The night when the ancient alleys of Volturino light up with music and the flavors of the Monti Dauni

Les Rues Lumières is the most anticipated summer event in Volturino, a village in the Monti Dauni perched in the province of Foggia, within the Daunian Sub-Apennines of Puglia. The event was born from a simple and fascinating idea: to restore life and beauty to the ancient rue, the characteristic herringbone-patterned alleys of the historic center, once bustling and now largely depopulated. For one evening, these narrow streets, steeped in collective memory, fill with lights, colors, scents, and sounds, becoming a true open-air sensory path.
The heart of the festival is the slow discovery of the village. Walking through the illuminated alleys and squares, visitors can taste and purchase typical local products, traditional dishes, and regional wines, prepared and presented by local chefs and producers. Along the way, you will encounter street artists — fire-eaters, stilt walkers, and jugglers — while roaming music accompanies the evening from one corner of the historic center to the other. The grand finale features a DJ set under the stars, turning the festival into a moment of social connection and joy until late at night.
Les Rues Lumières is much more than a gastronomic event: it is a project to enhance the historical and architectural heritage of Volturino. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Volturino in collaboration with local associations and businesses, actively involves residents, who decorate the facades and alleys of the town with flowers and ornaments. This creates an intimate and authentic atmosphere, where the community showcases its identity and sense of belonging. The event has grown year after year to become one of the signature events of the Volturino summer and an opportunity to rediscover the villages of the Monti Dauni.
The subtitle "Colors, sounds, and flavors of Volturino" perfectly summarizes the spirit of the evening: the lights tracing the alleys, the music enveloping the historic center, and the flavors of Daunian cuisine that tell the story of an authentic and still little-known territory. A perfect festival for those seeking a genuine experience, far from the large tourist flows, in the green heart of the Capitanata.
The 2026 edition of Les Rues Lumières is expected during the usual summer period, traditionally in the second half of August, when the alleys and squares of Volturino's historic center light up for a night of flavors, music, and street performances. At the moment, the Municipality of Volturino has not yet communicated the official date and program: information will be updated as soon as it becomes available.

Volturino can be reached by car from the main towns in the province of Foggia; the village is about half an hour from Lucera. During the festival, the historic center is pedestrianized.
The event takes place in the public spaces of the village. Tastings of typical products and dishes can be purchased at the stands set up along the route.
