The five patron saints celebrated through faith, tradition, and major concerts in the Monti Dauni
The Patronal Feast of the Patron Saints of Troia is the most awaited moment of the year for this small town in the Monti Dauni, in the province of Foggia, in the heart of northern Puglia. Every July, the town gathers around its five patron saints—Secondino (the primary patron), Eleuterio, Ponziano, Anastasio, and Pope Urbano I—in a celebration that weaves together religious devotion, historical memory, and popular festivities.
The veneration of these saints is rooted in the translation of the relics on July 19, 1105, while the cult of Urbano I was added in 1670. For centuries, the Troia community has guarded the precious silver busts of the patrons, which are carried in procession through the streets of the historic center.
The spiritual heart of the festival is the solemn procession of the silver busts of the patron saints, accompanied by the clergy, civil authorities, and a large turnout of the faithful. In the Cathedral of Troia, a jewel of Apulian Romanesque architecture famous for its large rose window, solemn masses and the Pontifical Mass presided over by the Bishop are celebrated, accompanied by a polyphonic choir.
Alongside the liturgical celebrations, the festival bursts with music and joy. Luminarie (light displays) illuminate the squares, brass band concerts with traditional marches performed in the bandstand enliven the evenings, while the main stage hosts major names from the Italian music scene every year for free concerts. There is no shortage of comedy shows, opera performances in the square, and a grand fireworks finale.
The Patronal Feast is one of the highlights of the Estate Troiana, the summer festival organized by the Municipality of Troia, which features over sixty events including music, theater, culture, food and wine, sports, and folk traditions from July to September. For visitors, it is the ideal opportunity to discover one of the most fascinating villages in the Puglia of the Monti Dauni, with its medieval alleys, majestic Cathedral, and the authentic hospitality of the people of Troia.
The 2026 Patronal Feast of the Patron Saints of Troia takes place in mid-July as part of the Estate Troiana 2026 program. As per tradition, the community of Troia pays homage to the five patron saints with processions of the silver busts and liturgical celebrations in the Cathedral.
The 2026 civil program features two headline evenings with free admission:
These events are complemented by brass band concerts, light displays, and the numerous initiatives of the Estate Troiana, which enlivens the village with over sixty events from July to September.
