The Band Festival is a highlight of the summer musical calendar in Troia, a refined village in the Daunian Mountains of Foggia province, in the heart of northern Puglia. Each year, the streets and squares of the historic center fill with the sounds of brass bands, the protagonists of a tradition deeply rooted in the popular culture of Southern Italy, where band concerts have always accompanied patronal feasts, civic celebrations, and community gatherings.

A Musical Tradition of the South

In Puglia, as in much of Southern Italy, the brass band is far more than just an ensemble of wind and percussion instruments: it is an identity-defining heritage passed down through generations. The bands' repertoire ranges from symphonic marches to famous transcriptions of Italian opera, and from traditional folk tunes to festive concert pieces. In Troia, the festival pays homage to this world, offering the public an open-air evening where live music becomes an occasion for meeting and shared celebration.

Part of the 'Estate Troiana' Program

The Band Festival is part of Estate Troiana, the rich summer program promoted by the Municipality of Troia together with numerous local associations and cultural operators. From July to September, the calendar offers over sixty events including music, theater, culture, food and wine, sports, and folk traditions: from the Wheat Festival to the Wine Festival, from the Patronal Feast to the Troia Theater Festival, and various local food festivals. In this mosaic of events, the Band Festival brings the musical and popular soul of the city to the stage.

Troia, Jewel of the Daunian Mountains

Visiting Troia means discovering one of the most fascinating villages in the Daunia region. The town is world-renowned for its Romanesque Cathedral, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed into Heaven and built between the late 11th and early 12th centuries. Its rose window—unique in its kind, with eleven spokes and twenty-two diaphragms carved like stone lace—is considered one of the most extraordinary examples of Apulian art. Attending a band concert in the shadow of this masterpiece, among the alleys and squares of the historic center, adds a special charm to the evening.
