The event dedicated to rosé wines in the shadow of the Troia Cathedral's Rose Window
“Rosé Wines under the Rose Window” is the food and wine event that, on September 26, 2026, closes the rich Troia Summer calendar in Troia, a village in the Monti Dauni in the province of Foggia, in the heart of northern Puglia. The event is dedicated to showcasing rosé wines and the region's gastronomic excellence, and is part of the municipality's summer program, which in 2026 features over sixty events including music, theater, culture, sports, and folk traditions.
It is no coincidence that the event takes its name from the Rose Window: Troia is known as the “City of the Rose Window” thanks to the extraordinary rose window of its Romanesque Cathedral, built between 1093 and 1125 and dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed into Heaven. It is the only rose window in the world with eleven small columns, a masterpiece of sculptural art that has become the emblem of the village. Tasting wine “under the Rose Window” in the city's historic center means combining the pleasure of good wine with one of the most evocative artistic settings in the Daunian Sub-Apennines.
Puglia is one of Italy's great lands for rosé, and the Troia area boasts a signature grape variety, the Nero di Troia (or Uva di Troia), from which elegant rosé wines are also produced. The event focuses on these very products, offering an opportunity to discover the wineries and flavors of the Monti Dauni. Accompanying the glasses are typical local products, from handmade pasta to cheeses, and from cured meats to local desserts.
The Troia Summer is the result of teamwork between the municipal administration, about fifteen associations, committees, cultural operators, and local volunteers. “Rosé Wines under the Rose Window” represents the concluding moment of this journey, designed to accompany residents and visitors into autumn with a toast to the excellence of the Puglia Region. The dates for the 2026 edition are confirmed for September 26; the detailed program, including participating wineries and times, will be released by the Municipality of Troia closer to the event.
