About Mostra del Tartufo Bianco

In Sant'Angelo in Vado, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, the National Exhibition of the Prized White Truffle of the Marche takes place: the oldest event in the Marche region dedicated to the king of the table, founded in 1964 and second in Italy only to Alba. For several weekends between October and November, the historic centre fills with truffle hunters' stalls, markets, tastings, open cellars, art, and truffle hunting competitions, in an event that has become a symbol of autumn in the Marche hinterland.

The queen of the Marche autumn

When autumn colours the woods of Montefeltro, Sant'Angelo in Vado becomes the truffle capital. The National Exhibition of the Prized White Truffle of the Marche is the oldest event of its kind in the region and one of the longest-running in Italy: founded in 1964, it is considered the second most important nationally after the one in Alba, Piedmont. For the public, it is an opportunity to discover the precious Tuber magnatum pico live, harvested in the oak and hazelnut woods surrounding this village in the province of Pesaro and Urbino.

A showcase of flavours and experiences

The Exhibition is not just a food fair: over the decades it has transformed into a large showcase of events that liven up the historic centre of Vado for several weekends. Among the squares and alleys, particularly in Piazza Umberto I, are the truffle hunters' stalls and the market of typical products, while historic restaurants and cellars offer menus based on white truffle.

  • Truffle Hunter Stalls and Fair with direct sales of fresh truffles and local products.
  • Tastings and gastronomic meetings, with the participation of chefs and protagonists of Italian haute cuisine.
  • TartufArte, the exhibition that promotes the village's artisan shops and artistic excellences.
  • Truffle hunting competition (Sergio Perrotta Trophy), with truffle dogs in action in the Campo Monti area.
  • International Truffle Motorcycle Rally, a motorcycle gathering that has accompanied the Exhibition for decades.

A symbol of the territory

The event is organised by the Municipality of Sant'Angelo in Vado, with the support of the Marche Region, the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, and the National Association of Truffle Towns. More than a simple sagra (local festival), the Exhibition tells the story of the territory's identity: the deep bond between the village, its woods, and the ancient art of truffle hunting, passed down from generation to generation by the tartufai (truffle hunters) of the Metauro valley.

Why it's worth the trip

Visiting Sant'Angelo in Vado during the Exhibition means experiencing the Marche autumn in its most authentic form: the unmistakable aroma of white truffle, the laden tables, the Renaissance elegance of the historic centre, and the welcome of a community that has preserved this tradition for over sixty years. An unmissable event for food and wine lovers and for those who want to discover the Marche hinterland.
