The capital of white truffle celebrates Tuber Magnatum Pico
When autumn arrives, the small village of Acqualagna, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, becomes the beating heart of one of the world's most precious gastronomic excellences: the prized white truffle (Tuber Magnatum Pico). The International Fair of White Truffle is the most important event in central Italy dedicated to this product and one of the sector's international reference points. It's no coincidence: Acqualagna, in the Marche region, accounts for about two-thirds of the national truffle production and is recognized as the true economic district of this precious tuber.
The heart of the fair is the central Piazza Enrico Mattei, which for the occasion transforms into a large open-air market. Among the stalls of truffle hunters and local companies, visitors can search for, smell, touch, and above all buy freshly unearthed white truffle, as well as an wide selection of typical Marche products: cured meats, cheeses, honey, oil, and wines from the Urbino hills. The atmosphere is that of a big village festival that attracts tens of thousands of enthusiasts and curious visitors from all over Italy and abroad every year.
In addition to sales, the fair offers a very full schedule of events: show cooking with starred chefs and well-known figures from the Italian culinary scene, celebrity cooking with entertainment personalities, workshops for children, and guided tastings paired with fine wines. Among the most beloved experiences are the excursions in the surrounding woods with the trifolau, the truffle hunters, and their trained dogs, to discover the ancient art of truffle hunting firsthand.
Now in its sixty-first edition, the Acqualagna White Truffle Fair is an event that has its roots in the 1960s and has grown over time to become a recognized brand of Marche's food and wine tourism. The event is part of the broader calendar of Acqualagna truffle fairs, which also includes the summer black truffle fair in August and the prized black truffle fairs in winter, confirming the Municipality of Acqualagna as the authentic Italian capital of truffles throughout the year.
The 2026 edition of the International Fair of White Truffle of Acqualagna confirms the tried-and-tested formula of four autumn weekends, the period of full maturity for the prized white truffle. The event offers a wide range that combines the excellence of truffles, both commercial and gastronomic, with other Italian specialties, featuring a rich calendar of gastronomic and cultural performances.
The confirmed dates are: Sunday, October 25, Saturday, October 31 to Sunday, November 1, Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15, 2026.
