About Montecatini Half Marathon

Every January, Montecatini Terme welcomes runners from all over Italy for the Montecatini Terme City Half Marathon, a competitive 21.097 km race accompanied by a 10.5 km run and a 5 km fun run. The course winds through famous Art Nouveau avenues, Belle Époque architecture, and the hills of the Valdinievole, with the start and finish at the Pallavicini Sports Center. A running event that combines sport, solidarity, and the discovery of one of Tuscany's most elegant spa towns.

A half marathon in the heart of the spa town

The Montecatini Terme City Half Marathon is the running event that, every year at the end of January, brings the town of Montecatini Terme in the province of Pistoia to life, in the heart of the Tuscan Valdinievole. Organized by ASD Montecatini Marathon, the event attracts hundreds of runners drawn by a fast and smooth course, designed entirely within the city, among its famous tree-lined avenues and the Art Nouveau-style architecture that has made this elegant spa resort famous.

Race distances

The event offers multiple formats to satisfy both competitive athletes and casual enthusiasts:

  • Competitive half marathon at the official distance of 21.097 km;
  • 10.5 km competitive and non-competitive;
  • 5 km fun run, open to everyone, including families.

The start and finish are located at the Pallavicini Sports Center, on Viale Leonardo da Vinci. The half marathon and the 10.5 km race start at 9:30 AM, followed by the 5 km walk. Along the route, there is no shortage of musical entertainment to accompany participants through the various districts of the city.

Sport, health, and solidarity

The Montecatini Half Marathon is more than just a race: the weekend is enriched by moments dedicated to sports culture, such as seminars on training, nutrition, and sports massage that precede the run. The event has always made room for the values of inclusion and solidarity, with the participation of sports groups, law enforcement, and programs aimed at athletes with disabilities. At the end of the race, the traditional pasta party brings all participants together.

Running in Montecatini Terme

Running this half marathon means discovering one of the pearls of the Tuscan spa region: historic establishments, parks, 19th-century avenues, and the hills that frame the city. The typically mild winter climate and the flat elevation profile make the course ideal even for those looking for a personal best or wanting to tackle the 21 km distance for the first time. A perfect opportunity to combine a passion for running with a relaxing weekend in one of the most renowned Italian spa tourism destinations.
