A family-friendly Carnival at Parco le Sughere in Quattro Strade
The Monte Carnival is a young event that has already captured the hearts of the Bientina community, a town in the Valdera area of the province of Pisa, in the heart of Tuscany. The festival takes place in the Quattro Strade district, at the Parco le Sughere on Via del Ghinghero, and has established itself from its very first edition as a Carnival event dedicated primarily to families and children.
Unlike the historic Bientina Carnival with its allegorical floats, the Monte Carnival has a more intimate, neighborhood feel: no large parades, but rather an afternoon of games, entertainment, and traditional sweets to be enjoyed together in the greenery of the park. It is a testament to how, even in a small town, the desire to come together can give life to a new tradition.
The park is decorated for the party and filled with costumes, masks, and bouncy castles. Among the most popular attractions is the Bientina Carnival little train, which takes children on a tour of the park, while the refreshment stands are filled with the scent of frati and bomboloni, the typical sweet fritters of the Tuscan Carnival.
The Monte Carnival is the result of the collaboration of numerous local associations, including the Circolo Arci Il Risorgimento, the Polisportiva Quattro Strade, the TartaBlu association, the Contrada Quattro Strade, and the Bientina Carnival group, coordinated by the Pro Loco Bientina and sponsored by the Municipality of Bientina. This network of volunteers makes this free event possible, designed to provide a carefree afternoon for both young and old.
In case of bad weather, the event will still take place indoors, ensuring the party is never ruined by rain. A detail that speaks volumes about the care and passion of those who organize this young Valdera festival.
For its second edition, the Monte Carnival confirmed the winning formula of its debut: an afternoon of celebration at Parco le Sughere in Quattro Strade, Bientina, animated by local associations and supported by the Municipality.
Between masks, bouncy castles, the little train, and refreshment stands with frati and bomboloni, children were able to have fun all afternoon long. There was no shortage of entertainment and costumed characters that immediately became the hallmark of this young Valdera festival.
