About Miglianico Alps Open

The Miglianico Alps Open is an international professional golf tournament that brings the Alps Tour circuit to Abruzzo every spring. Hosted by the Golf Il Cerreto club in Miglianico, in the province of Chieti, the event gathers 144 players from across Europe to compete over 54 holes for a prize pool of 48,000 euros. Part of the Italian Pro Tour presented by Buccellati, it serves as a premier showcase for the continent's most promising golfing talents.

European professional golf in Abruzzo

The Miglianico Alps Open is one of the most established fixtures on the Italian golf scene. Played on the course at Golf Il Cerreto in Miglianico (Chieti province, Abruzzo), the tournament is part of the European Alps Tour circuit and is included in the Italian Pro Tour presented by Buccellati, a series promoted by the Italian Golf Federation.

An international tournament

Each edition attracts a high-level field: 144 players representing around fifteen nations, including a strong contingent of Italian professionals. The Abruzzo green welcomes the top performers from the Alps Tour Order of Meritโ€”the circuit that acts as a springboard to the Challenge Tour and the DP World Tour, and which has launched the careers of numerous European golf champions.

Tournament format

The competition is played over 54 holes across three days, with a cut after the first 36 holes that advances the top 40 players and ties to the final round. The total prize fund is 48,000 euros, with a winner's share of 6,900 euros. The tournament is preceded by a Pro-Am using the "Tour Scramble" format, which pairs professionals with amateur players and guests for a day dedicated to hospitality and promoting the local area.

Golf Il Cerreto

The Miglianico club, active for over twenty years, has hosted top-tier international golf for several consecutive seasons, establishing itself as one of the most reliable and appreciated venues on the Alps Tour. The course, nestled in the rolling Abruzzo countryside just a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast, offers spectators the chance to follow professional golf up close in a stunning natural setting, between the hills of the Chieti area and views of the Maiella mountains.

A local highlight

Beyond its sporting significance, the Miglianico Alps Open has become a major promotional opportunity for Abruzzo and the province of Chieti, attracting enthusiasts, industry professionals, and sports tourists alike. Admission to the club is traditionally free for the public, making the event accessible to anyone wanting to discover a growing sport and the region that hosts it.
