The International Street Food festival in San Giovanni Teatino is the Abruzzo stop of one of Italy's most popular touring food and wine events. The festival takes place in Piazza San Rocco, in the heart of the Sambuceto district, within the municipality of San Giovanni Teatino, in the province of Chieti (Abruzzo). For an entire weekend, the square transforms into a massive open-air kitchen, where food trucks and stalls offer flavors from every corner of the globe.

A journey through international flavors

The culinary offerings are the true heart of the event: from Italian and international craft beers to grilled meats, Mexican tacos, and American desserts, not to mention regional Italian delicacies. Specialties animating the stalls include Hungarian kürtőskalács, Cinta Senese burgers, pulled pork, Angus burgers, Apulian bombette, caciocavallo impiccato, Neapolitan pizza, and Argentine cuisine. Naturally, the unmissable arrosticini—the symbol of Abruzzo's gastronomic tradition—are present to represent the host territory.

A stop on the A.I.R.S. tour

The event is organized by A.I.R.S. - Associazione Italiana Ristoratori di Strada, the circuit created by Alfredo Orofino that brings International Street Food to squares across the peninsula. San Giovanni Teatino is a historic stop on the tour; the festival returns here every year with the patronage of the Municipality, attracting families, young people, and street food enthusiasts from across the Chieti-Pescara metropolitan area.
