The kitesurfing festival in the Stagnone Lagoon
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Marsala Kite Fest is one of the most anticipated events of the Sicilian summer, a grand celebration dedicated to kitesurfing and wind sports held in the evocative Stagnone Lagoon, in the territory of the Municipality of Marsala, in the province of Trapani. The Stagnone, with its shallow waters and constant winds, is considered one of Europe's kitesurfing paradises: a shallow, safe, and luminous mirror of water where beginners and experts can practice in ideal conditions against the backdrop of the salt pans and the island of Mozia.
During the festival, the bay fills with colorful kites and sails that trace trajectories in the sky. The public can admire spectacular aerial stunts, freestyle exhibitions, and thrilling races that attract athletes from all over Europe. Among the historic competitive events of the festival are the Italian Kitesurf Freestyle Championship and the Kitesurf Eurocup, as well as challenges and talent trophies that have previously seen the participation of world-class champions.
The Marsala Kite Fest is much more than a sporting competition: it is a multidisciplinary event that weaves together live music, dance, art, and gastronomy. Evenings bring the waterfront and the center of Marsala to life with concerts, DJ sets, and shows, while street food stands offer local flavors. Ample space is also dedicated to inclusion and the environment, with activities and workshops designed for families and children.
One of the most appreciated aspects of the event is the free trials and lessons for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and SUP, reserved for those who have never practiced these sports and wish to approach the world of wind with the support of qualified instructors from the Stagnone schools.
The setting for the event is Marsala, a city in the province of Trapani famous for the fortified wine that bears its name, its salt pans, and the historic Stagnone Nature Reserve. Participating in the Marsala Kite Fest means experiencing sport and celebration immersed in one of the most fascinating landscapes in Sicily, amidst sunsets over the salt pans, the scents of the sea, and the warm hospitality of the Sicilian tradition.
The Marsala Kite Fest is an annual event usually held in the summer months, between June and July. The dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: it is recommended to follow the official channels of the Municipality of Marsala and the event for updates.
