About Marsala Kite Fest

The Marsala Kite Fest is the major summer event dedicated to kitesurfing that brings the Stagnone Lagoon to life, one of the windiest and most spectacular stretches of water in the Mediterranean. With aerial stunts, colorful kites dancing over the bay, and international competitions like the Kitesurf Eurocup, the event blends sport, music, art, and fine food. Free lessons, sunset shows, and street food transform Marsala, in the heart of western Sicily, into an open-air celebration where wind, sea, and fun collide.

The festival of wind and sea in Marsala

The Marsala Kite Fest is one of the most anticipated events of the Sicilian summer, a grand celebration dedicated to kitesurfing and wind sports held in the evocative Stagnone Lagoon, in the territory of the Municipality of Marsala, in the province of Trapani. The Stagnone, with its shallow waters and constant winds, is considered one of Europe's kitesurfing paradises: a shallow, safe, and luminous mirror of water where beginners and experts can practice in ideal conditions against the backdrop of the salt pans and the island of Mozia.

Sport, spectacle, and adrenaline

During the festival, the bay fills with colorful kites and sails that trace trajectories in the sky. The public can admire spectacular aerial stunts, freestyle exhibitions, and thrilling races that attract athletes from all over Europe. Among the historic competitive events of the festival are the Italian Kitesurf Freestyle Championship and the Kitesurf Eurocup, as well as challenges and talent trophies that have previously seen the participation of world-class champions.

More than just kitesurfing

The Marsala Kite Fest is much more than a sporting competition: it is a multidisciplinary event that weaves together live music, dance, art, and gastronomy. Evenings bring the waterfront and the center of Marsala to life with concerts, DJ sets, and shows, while street food stands offer local flavors. Ample space is also dedicated to inclusion and the environment, with activities and workshops designed for families and children.

Free lessons for everyone

One of the most appreciated aspects of the event is the free trials and lessons for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and SUP, reserved for those who have never practiced these sports and wish to approach the world of wind with the support of qualified instructors from the Stagnone schools.

Marsala and western Sicily

The setting for the event is Marsala, a city in the province of Trapani famous for the fortified wine that bears its name, its salt pans, and the historic Stagnone Nature Reserve. Participating in the Marsala Kite Fest means experiencing sport and celebration immersed in one of the most fascinating landscapes in Sicily, amidst sunsets over the salt pans, the scents of the sea, and the warm hospitality of the Sicilian tradition.

2026 Edition

The Marsala Kite Fest is an annual event usually held in the summer months, between June and July. The dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: it is recommended to follow the official channels of the Municipality of Marsala and the event for updates.

Marsala Kite Fest — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Marsala Kite Fest is expected in the Stagnone Lagoon, faithful to the summer appointment that celebrates kitesurfing and wind sports every year. At the moment, official dates and the program have not yet been announced: the ingredients that made the event famous will be renewed, including races, free trials, music, and street food.

The Marsala Kite Fest 2026 will return to the evocative Stagnone Lagoon, in Marsala, for a new edition dedicated to kitesurfing and wind sports. The official dates of the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the event usually takes place in the summer months, between June and July.
