Five evenings of comedies in the Piedmontese dialect at the Teatro F.lli Vacchetti in Carrù
March at the Theatre is an amateur theatre festival that fills the seats of the Teatro F.lli Vacchetti in Carrù—a lively town in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont—every year between late February and the end of March. Five evenings of brilliant comedies, all performed in the Piedmontese dialect, fill the calendar with shows on Friday and Saturday nights at 9:00 PM, all with free admission.
The festival is promoted by the Nuova Filodrammatica Carrucese in collaboration with the Municipality of Carrù. After a long hiatus, the initiative has been brought back to life, restoring a highly anticipated event to the town. The goal is to showcase regional amateur theatre companies and introduce the public to Piedmontese linguistic and theatrical traditions in a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
The schedule alternates between local companies from Carrù and groups from across Piedmont, featuring two or three-act comedies that range from everyday life situations and misunderstandings to stories of love and work. Featured companies include the Nuova Filodrammatica Carrucese, Alfatre Gruppo Teatro from Collegno, J'Amis del Teatro from Carmagnola, Compania Teatral Carla S. from Turin, and J'Amis del Borg from Moncalieri.
The beating heart of the festival is the Teatro F.lli Vacchetti, a historic cinema-theatre overlooking Piazza Cenacchio in the centre of Carrù. Every year, the venue welcomes the festival's loyal audience, providing an intimate and welcoming setting to rediscover the joy of live dialect theatre.
Known throughout Italy for its famous Fiera del Bue Grasso (Fat Ox Fair), Carrù is a town that proudly preserves its roots. March at the Theatre fits perfectly into this tradition, offering an opportunity to gather, support amateur theatre, and pass on the Piedmontese language through smiles and comedy.
The 2026 edition of the festival took place from February 27 to March 27 at the Teatro F.lli Vacchetti in Carrù, with five free-admission events starting at 9:00 PM.
The comedies, in two or three acts, alternated between everyday life situations, misunderstandings, and stories of love and work, all performed entirely in the Piedmontese dialect.
