About Maratona Village Badia

Located in the Ladin municipality of Alta Badia, the Maratona Village serves as the headquarters for the renowned Maratona dles Dolomites, the most anticipated cycling granfondo in the Dolomites. In the hamlet of San Leonardo, thousands of cyclists and their supporters gather in the days leading up to the race to enjoy the exhibition area, bib collection, Maratona Shop, bike tests, talks, and entertainment. It is an event that blends sport, local festivities, and the stunning Dolomite landscape in the province of Bolzano.

The Maratona Village, the soul of the Alta Badia festival

Every July, the municipality of Badia, the Ladin heart of Alta Badia in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige), becomes the headquarters for the Maratona dles Dolomites, the most famous cycling granfondo in the Dolomites. The Maratona Village, set up in the hamlet of San Leonardo, is the nerve center in the days leading up to the race: this is where participants collect their bibs, visit the exhibition area, test the latest cycling innovations, and soak up the pre-race atmosphere.

A village dedicated to cycling enthusiasts

In the days before the race, the Village transforms San Leonardo di Badia into a meeting point for thousands of cyclists and supporters from dozens of countries. Typical highlights include:

  • Bib collection and race pack distribution;
  • Exhibition area featuring cycling brands, bike tests, and technical innovations;
  • Maratona Shop with official event apparel and merchandise;
  • Talks, meetings, and entertainment related to the year's theme;
  • Secure bicycle parking and free shuttle service.

The race and the Dolomite passes

The Maratona dles Dolomites offers three routes that traverse the most legendary passes of the Dolomites: the Sellaronda route (approx. 55 km, including Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella, and Gardena), the Medium route (approx. 106 km), and the Maratona itself (approx. 138 km with over 4,000 meters of elevation gain, including the addition of Passo Giau and Passo Valparola). The race starts in La Villa and finishes in Corvara, both located in Alta Badia.

More than just a race

The Maratona dles Dolomites is not just a sporting challenge: every edition is accompanied by a specific theme and charitable initiatives that make it an event of great cultural and social value. The Maratona Village in Badia is where this dimension comes to life, combining a passion for cycling with the hospitality of the Ladin valleys and the beauty of the UNESCO-listed Dolomite landscape.

An essential date in the heart of the Dolomites

For the Alta Badia region and the municipality of Badia, the event is one of the most important highlights of the summer, drawing thousands of people and turning the valley's villages into a massive, widespread celebration of sport, local gastronomy, and Ladin tradition.

Maratona Village Badia — edition 2026

The 39th edition of the Maratona dles Dolomites took place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, with approximately 8,000 cyclists starting in La Villa. In the days leading up to the race, the Maratona Village in San Leonardo di Badia hosted bib collection, an exhibition area, the Maratona Shop, and side events. The edition's theme was peace ("Pax"), also expressed through the "Peace Through Children's Eyes" initiative.

2026 Edition — The theme of peace

The 39th Maratona dles Dolomites was held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, with the start in La Villa and the finish in Corvara, Alta Badia. The Maratona Village, set up in San Leonardo di Badia, was active from July 2 to 4 for bib collection, the exhibition area, and the Maratona Shop, with evening hours on Thursday and full-day access on Friday and Saturday.

The theme of the edition was "Pax", peace understood not only as the absence of conflict but as the ability to build relationships and share common values, featuring the dedicated initiative "Peace Through Children's Eyes". The three classic routes were confirmed — Sellaronda (approx. 55 km), Medium (approx. 106 km), and Maratona (approx. 138 km) — across the great Dolomite passes.

The program in the days leading up to the race included group rides (Sunrise Coffee Ride, Pinarello Social Ride), the Maratona for Kids for the little ones, and the traditional Pasta Party at the finish line.
