The historic center of Pianella turns 'DiVino' with wine, culture, and autumn flavors
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every autumn, the historic center of Pianella, a town in the Vestine hills in the province of Pescara, comes alive with Borgo Divino, a festival dedicated to wine, local products, and regional culture. For an entire weekend in October, the town's alleys, squares, and historic buildings become stops on a food, wine, and sensory journey that combines the pleasure of fine drinking with the discovery of local heritage. The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Pianella with the patronage of the Municipality.
The heart of the event is the so-called "Wine and Culture Trail": throughout the historic center, there are themed wineries—five in recent editions—managed by sommeliers, where you can taste labels from local wineries. Access to the route is from Piazza dei Vestini, where the Info Point is set up, continuing through Porta S. Maria to the heart of the village. Accompanying the tastings are markets, artisan stalls, street artists, and music playing throughout the streets.
Borgo Divino is more than just wine. In Piazza Piave, theatrical performances take center stage: over the years, the Compagnia dell'Aratro of Pianella has performed "Bacco Bacco euoé – Inno al vino," directed by Franco Mannella. In the Church of San Domenico, photo exhibitions dedicated to the grape harvest, wine, and rural autumn landscapes are hosted, curated by the Ama Pianella association. The Frantoio d'Annibale, with its historic 18th and 19th-century presses, hosts visits and cultural meetings on olive oil, while the Mira Cancelli Palace of Culture opens the doors of the Museum of Abruzzo Ceramic Craftsmanship and hosts animated readings and collections on the history of Pianella.
The event is an opportunity to savor typical products from the province of Pescara and Abruzzo: wines from the Vestine hills, local extra virgin olive oil, artisanal ceramics, and local gastronomic specialties. Borgo Divino is much more than a food festival: it is a stroll through the food and wine culture of Pianella, blending tradition, art, and conviviality.
At the moment, the dates and program for the 2026 edition of Borgo Divino in Pianella have not yet been published. Based on previous editions, the festival is expected to take place on a weekend in late October in the historic center of the town, in the province of Pescara.
