The Taste of the Mountains in Lateis

In the midst of Ferragosto, the small hamlet of Lateis, above Sauris (Zahre), comes alive for the Malga Cheese and Wild Berry Festival. It is one of the most genuine gastronomic events in the Carnic Dolomites, dedicated to two local excellences: cheeses produced in high-altitude pastures and wild berries cultivated by local farms.

Malga Cheeses and Wild Berries

The absolute protagonists are the malga cheeses, the result of processing Sauris pasture milk using traditional methods, and the wild berries — blueberries, raspberries, currants, and wild strawberries — from the area's farms. The festival is an opportunity to savor these products in a context of conviviality, culinary discovery, and direct contact with producers.

Sauris, Land of Authentic Flavors

Sauris is famous for its gastronomic excellences, from smoked ham to Zahre beer, and this festival adds a precious element to its food and wine heritage. The event is organized by the Sauris-Zahre Business Network with the support of the Municipality of Sauris.
