Art, music, and traditions in the heart of the Dolomites, in the homeland of Titian
Pieve di Cadore, the historic capital of Cadore in the province of Belluno, is above all the city of Titian Vecellio, the great master of the Venetian Renaissance. The Tiziano Summer, a widespread cultural event promoted by the Fondazione Centro Studi Tiziano e Cadore, takes its name and inspiration from here. From June to September, it brings art history conversations, readings, concerts, workshops, and guided tours to the area, taking place between Titian's House, the Titian altarpiece in the archdeaconry church, the Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità, and the Monte Ricco Fort.
Alongside the cultured programme, the Pro Loco Tiziano keeps the popular spirit of summer alive with around thirty events spread across the hamlets: the alpine festival in Damos, the football tournament in Sottocastello with the Dolomiti Expo market, the Nebbiù festival in August, the September street food event, and the October health week. It is a unique calendar that combines great Dolomite culture with village conviviality, designed for both holidaymakers heading to the mountains and the communities of Cadore.
2026 marks the 450th anniversary of Titian's death and, at the same time, the approach of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Games. Pieve di Cadore celebrates its most illustrious son with exhibitions, Renaissance concerts, and initiatives that are part of the Cultural Olympiad, strengthening the link between art, territory, and the identity of the Dolomite Veneto region.
In 2026, the Tiziano Summer is part of the celebrations for the 450th anniversary of Titian's death. Following the spring exhibition «Titian and the Landscape. From Cadore to the Lagoon», the project continues with a second summer exhibition from July to September 2026 and the usual cycle of concerts and meetings organised by the Fondazione Centro Studi Tiziano e Cadore. In parallel, Pro Loco Tiziano is renewing its thirty or so popular events in the hamlets of Pieve di Cadore.
The detailed programme for summer 2026 will be published by the Foundation and Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the events. Based on recent editions and the events already announced for the Titian year, the usual structure includes:
