The food and wine walking tour on Monte Bondone
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Magnalonga is the food and wine walking tour of Garniga Terme, a small village nestled at an altitude of about 800 metres on the eastern slopes of Monte Bondone, in the province of Trento. The event offers a non-competitive route of approximately 13 kilometres, divided into seven stages: at each stop, participants find a refreshment point to sample local dishes and products, in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere dedicated to the art of slow living and discovery.
The charm of the Magnalonga lies in the blend of outdoor activity and local gastronomy. Walking through woods, meadows, and clearings, you traverse the landscapes of Monte Bondone, famous for its botanical richness: gentian, arnica, thyme, and numerous other medicinal herbs that have made this mountain famous grow in its high-altitude pastures. Each stage of the route thus becomes an opportunity for a tasty break, with Trentino culinary specialties accompanied by local products.
Garniga Terme is a destination linked to wellness and nature: it is known for its traditional hay baths, an ancient spa practice that harnesses the properties of the herbs of the Bondone. Immersed in forests and rocky peaks, the village retains an authentic rural character, with its mountain huts and the church of San Osvaldo overlooking the valley. The Magnalonga highlights this very bond between community, landscape, and gastronomic tradition.
The event is promoted by the Pro Loco of Garniga Terme APS, with the support of the Municipality of Garniga Terme and local associations. After a few years of hiatus, the Magnalonga has returned to enliven the summer of this small Monte Bondone town, attracting hikers and food enthusiasts alike. For information and registration, you can contact the Pro Loco at [email protected].
The Magnalonga is part of the rich calendar of food and wine walking tours in Trentino-Alto Adige, a format much loved in the region that combines gentle hiking, socialising, and the promotion of local products. It is a simple and pleasant way to discover a less-travelled corner of the province of Trento, amidst the cool altitudes of the Bondone.
At the moment, the Pro Loco of Garniga Terme APS has not yet announced the official dates for the 2026 edition of the Magnalonga. Based on previous editions, the food and wine walking tour is expected to take place in the summer, during the month of July. The planned format remains the established one: approximately 13 kilometres of non-competitive route on Monte Bondone, divided into seven stages with refreshment points dedicated to local specialties. To find out the date, registration fees, and program details, you are invited to contact the Pro Loco at [email protected].
Garniga Terme can be reached by car from Trento (about 20 minutes) by heading up towards Monte Bondone. The reference railway station is Trento, on the Brenner line, from where you can continue by car or local connections.
The Magnalonga is a non-competitive walk covering about 13 km in 7 stages. Comfortable trekking shoes and clothing suitable for the mountains are recommended. For registration, fees, and schedules, it is best to contact the Pro Loco of Garniga Terme APS at [email protected].
