The historic snail festival in the hinterland of Voltri, since 1959
The Lumacata di Fabbriche is a gastronomic festival with a long tradition: born in 1959, it is one of the most cherished summer events in the hinterland of Voltri, in the western part of Genoa. It takes place in Fabbriche, a hilly hamlet nestled in the greenery, and owes its name to the absolute star of the festival: the snail, cooked according to the ancient local recipe.
The heart of the festival is the food. Snails are the signature dish, but the menu offers much more: grilled meat and sausage, pizzas cooked in wood-fired ovens, desserts, and traditional specialities. A genuine and abundant gastronomic offering, served every evening from 6 PM to midnight, and also for lunch on Sundays.
Alongside the food, the festival offers live music evenings, the traditional lottery, and entertainment for families, in a convivial and village atmosphere. An opportunity to spend an evening outdoors, enjoying typical dishes and immersing yourself in the authenticity of a Ligurian hinterland village.
Deeply rooted in the community of Fabbriche, the Lumacata is the result of the work of the village volunteers, who renew a tradition over sixty years old every year. Thanks to the free shuttle service from the AMT terminus, the festival is easily accessible and represents a great opportunity to discover the rural and welcoming soul of this corner of Genoa.
