Sassello celebrates its most famous sweet in the heart of the Beigua Park
In Sassello (Province of Savona), a village listed among the most beautiful in Italy and nestled in the Beigua Park, the amaretto is not just a sweet: it is a symbol of identity. A soft biscuit made from sweet and bitter almonds, egg white, and sugar, the Sassello amaretto boasts a tradition dating back to 1860, when it was created by Gertrude Dania in Rossi, and is today a true gastronomic flagship of Liguria.
The Amaretto Festival enlivens the historic center, particularly Piazza Concezione, with stands from major artisan producers — from Virginia to La Sassellese, from Isaia to Giacobbe, Panarello, and Jole — and with a live production stand, where amaretti are prepared and baked on-site. There is also craft beer, focaccia, and themed menus from the town's restaurants, also famous for its porcini mushrooms.
The day is also an opportunity to discover Sassello: the Perrando Museum and the Palazzo Gervino Visitor Center are open to the public, while games and workshops are planned for children. A festival that combines taste, tradition, and nature, in the heart of one of the most charming villages in the Savona hinterland.
The Amaretto Festival returns on a Sunday in September 2026 in Sassello. In Piazza Concezione and the historic center, stands from artisan producers (Virginia, La Sassellese, Isaia, Giacobbe, Panarello, Jole) and the live production stand celebrate the village's symbolic sweet. The Perrando Museum and the Palazzo Gervino Visitor Center will be open; games and workshops for children. The final date will be announced by the organizers.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by the Municipality and the Pro Loco closer to the event. Established festival structure:
