About LugoRun

LugoRun is the big day of running, sport, and community that enlivens Lugo every spring, in the province of Ravenna. The heart of the event is the LugoRun21K, a competitive half marathon on a certified 21.0975 km course starting and finishing at the Pavaglione, combined with the LugoRun Walk (recreational walk) and LugoRun Kids dedicated to local schools. The absolute winner receives the Adriano Guerrini Memorial, a trophy that commemorates the historic mayor of Lugo and makes this race an identity event for the entire Bassa Romagna.

LugoRun, the running festival in Bassa Romagna

Every spring, Lugo, a town in the Bassa Romagna district in the province of Ravenna (Emilia-Romagna), transforms into a large open-air running circuit with LugoRun. More than just a running race, the event has become a true community celebration over the years, involving athletes, families, schools, and local associations, with the start and finish line in the heart of the city, the historic Pavaglione.

Three races for everyone

The program is divided into three races designed to involve every type of participant:

  • LugoRun21K: the competitive half marathon on a certified 21.0975 km course, reserved for competitive athletes.
  • LugoRun Walk: a non-competitive recreational walk of just over 8 km, open to everyone, with no rankings.
  • LugoRun Kids โ€“ School Project: the race dedicated to the youngest, designed to involve schools in Bassa Romagna.

A route through the historic center

The course winds through the historic center of Lugo and its symbolic landmarks: from the Pavaglione, it heads towards Largo della Repubblica, runs along Via Baracca and Viale degli Orsini to Parco Il Tondo, skirts Porta di San Bartolomeo, passes behind the Teatro Rossini, and reaches Parco del Loto, the Canale dei Mulini, and the area of the Francesco Baracca Airport in Villa San Martino, before returning to the finish line via Corso Garibaldi.

The Adriano Guerrini Memorial

The absolute winner of the competitive race is awarded the Adriano Guerrini Memorial, a trophy dedicated to the historic mayor of Lugo (in office from 1965 to 1976) and handcrafted in mosaic by the Annafietta artisan workshop. Each edition also features a collectible medal celebrating a city monument: over the years, the Pavaglione, Francesco Baracca, the Rocca Estense, the Teatro Rossini, and Porta di San Bartolomeo have been honored.

A day of sport and celebration

Organized by the territorial committee UISP Ravenna-Lugo in collaboration with numerous local entities and ASD Liferunner, LugoRun attracts thousands of participants from all over Italy each year, confirming itself as one of the most beloved and attended running events in Emilia-Romagna.
