The children's literature festival in the village of Torrechiara Castle
The Festival LL – Langhirano Legge a Torrechiara is the children's literature review that every spring enlivens Torrechiara, one of the most charming hamlets in the Municipality of Langhirano, in the province of Parma. For a week, the village gathered at the foot of the scenic Torrechiara Castle transforms into a large, spread-out space filled with meetings, workshops, presentations, and shows designed for children and their families.
The festival program offers a week packed with events that blend reading, creativity, and play. Mornings and afternoons are marked by creative workshops, meetings with authors, and book presentations, while the schedule is enriched by shows hosted in the squares and spaces of the village. The heart of the event is the Torrechiara Cultural Center, along Strada Provinciale Pilastro, which hosts exhibitions and many of the events, but activities also spread throughout the village and its iconic locations.
The festival is organized by the Googol Association for Scientific Dissemination together with the Donne di Torrechiara Association, with the patronage of the Municipality of Langhirano, and involves volunteers, schools, and local organizations. The review is dedicated to the memory of Lara Albanese, an astrophysicist, science communicator, and children's writer who passed away prematurely in 2020: a connection that gives the festival its unique character, capable of uniting a passion for books with a passion for knowledge and discovery.
Participating in "LL – Langhirano Legge" is also an opportunity to discover Torrechiara, dominated by one of the best-preserved castles in Emilia-Romagna, and the Langhirano area, the capital of Prosciutto di Parma. A weekend of books and culture immersed in the hilly landscape of the Parma Apennines.
The 8th edition of the LL Festival – Langhirano Reads in Torrechiara was held from May 17 to 24, 2026, confirming the formula of the widespread review in the village of Torrechiara, in Langhirano (PR).
