A monthly event in the heart of Lunigiana

The Antiques, Crafts and Hobbies Market is one of the most anticipated events on the calendar in Pontremoli, in the province of Massa-Carrara, at the northern tip of Tuscany. It takes place every third Sunday of the month, from March to December (with a break during the winter months of January and February), bringing the squares and alleys of the historic center to life from early morning until sunset.

Where it takes place

The heart of the market is Piazza della Repubblica, but the stalls extend along the streets of the historic center, among arches, porticoes, and buildings that tell the story of this ancient village in Lunigiana, a border land crossed for centuries by the Via Francigena. Strolling among the exhibitors is a wonderful way to rediscover the architecture and atmosphere of the town of Pontremoli.

Organized by the Pro Loco of Pontremoli, the event brings together about thirty exhibitors and collectors offering a wide selection of items:

• Antiques: paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and period furniture;
• Antique and collectible books, in a city that boasts a long tradition linked to publishing and the famous Premio Bancarella;
• Modern antiques and hobbies: vintage items, curiosities, and small rarities for collectors;
• Local crafts and typical products from the Lunigiana territory.

The market Sunday is the ideal time to discover Pontremoli: the village offers picturesque views, from the Castello del Piagnaro, which houses the Museum of Lunigiana Stele Statues, to the Baroque churches in the center.
