Two days of music, theatre, and remembrance for April 25th in Corneliano d'Alba
The Liberation Festival is the flagship event of the Arci Cinema Vekkio Club in Corneliano d'Alba, in the Roero area of the province of Cuneo (Piedmont). Built around the April 25th holiday, Italy's national Liberation Day, the festival transforms the Corso Riddone venue into a gathering place dedicated to the memory of the Resistance, participation, and community. It is far more than a simple commemoration: it is a vibrant popular and cultural celebration that transcends languages, generations, and musical genres.
The program spans two days, from the afternoon until late at night. The first evening is traditionally dedicated to a charity concert, accompanied by a convivial aperitivo-dinner. The main event on April 25th begins in the early afternoon with a vinyl DJ set, followed by live music, theatrical performances designed for all ages, collective art exhibitions, and, in the late afternoon, talks and contributions dedicated to the theme of the Resistance—the heart of the festival.
Founded in 1998 as a gathering space for the youth of Corneliano d'Alba and Piobesi d'Alba, the Cinema Vekkio is now a year-round Arci club with a program ranging from punk rock to electronic music, and from theatre to workshops. The Liberation Festival embodies its most authentic spirit: grassroots culture, inclusion, and civic engagement. Food and drinks accompany the festivities, creating the convivial atmosphere that is the club's trademark.
Corneliano d'Alba is located in the Roero region, just a few kilometers from Alba and the UNESCO-listed hills of the Langhe. Attending the Liberation Festival is also an opportunity to discover a territory famous for its wine and its dense network of cultural and community initiatives. The event is part of the national Arci initiatives dedicated to April 25th, giving voice to a shared memory that looks toward the future.
The Liberation Festival returned to Cinema Vekkio in Corneliano d'Alba on April 24th and 25th, 2026, confirming its status as the most important event of the year for the Arci Club.
Thursday, April 24th, the evening opened with a convivial aperitivo-dinner at 9 PM (by reservation) and a concert by CurvArcobaleno, a band deeply connected to the local area and themes of inclusion, in a fundraising evening supporting the Langhe Roero Pride.
Saturday, April 25th, the main day, unfolded from afternoon until night: at 3 PM, a vinyl DJ set by Vincenzo Scalabrino, followed by live music with the Più project (with guests) and Dish. The Collettivo Scirò performed "Tra le pagine di Rodari" for children, and the collective exhibition "NuovƏ" was inaugurated. At 6 PM, the talks and contributions dedicated to the Resistance—the heart of the event—took place, followed in the evening by the Occitan traditions of Lhi Balòs and Lou Seriol.
Cinema Vekkio is located at Corso Riddone 3 in Corneliano d'Alba (CN). By car, the most convenient exit is from the Alba ring road; the town is well-connected to Alba and Bra. By train, the Corneliano d'Alba station is on the Bra-Alba line.
Admission is free and reserved for Arci members. Those who are not yet members can join directly on-site on the day of the event: the annual membership card costs 10 euros. Reservations via WhatsApp or email are recommended for the first evening's aperitivo-dinner.
