The non-competitive fun run in Lenta, part of the Gamba d'Oro circuit
Lenta di Corsa is the signature running event in the municipality of Lenta, a small village in the Province of Vercelli nestled between rice paddies and the hills that mark the transition to the Valsesia valley. It is a non-competitive fun run, open to anyone who wants to participate without the pressure of a stopwatch: you can run to improve your personal best or simply walk while enjoying the scenery and the company.
The event is part of the Gamba d'Oro, a historic circuit of non-competitive runs held across the provinces of Novara and Vercelli, in Piedmont. With dozens of stages distributed throughout the year, the Gamba d'Oro is a benchmark for amateur running enthusiasts in Upper Piedmont: every Sunday, a different town opens its streets to walkers and runners in a festive atmosphere of healthy sportsmanship. The Lenta stage is one of the most anticipated by those who regularly follow the circuit.
The event offers two distances designed to suit every fitness level:
The tracks wind through the streets of Lenta's town centre and the trails of the surrounding plains, offering glimpses of the village and its heritage, starting with the evocative Castle-Monastery.
In Lenta, running is naturally linked to village life: the event is part of the festivities that bring the village to life during the patronal feast of Saint Olympius, a time when the local community gathers for sporting, cultural, and gastronomic events. Participating in Lenta di Corsa therefore means experiencing not just a morning of sport, but also a piece of the identity of this corner of the Province of Vercelli, in Piedmont, where village traditions and a passion for amateur running have coexisted for years.
Lenta is located in the Province of Vercelli, in Upper Piedmont. By car, it can be reached from the A26 motorway (Romagnano-Ghemme or Greggio exits), continuing along the provincial roads of the Vercelli plains. The nearest train station is Romagnano Sesia, just a few kilometres away.
The registration fee is approximately 4 euros per race. Registration takes place on-site, usually up to a few minutes before the start. For the Gamba d'Oro circuit runs, a medical certificate for non-competitive sports is generally required.
As this is a morning event, it is advisable to arrive early for the meeting point and registration. Comfortable sportswear and running or walking shoes are sufficient: the atmosphere is that of a village festival, accessible to everyone.
