Skiing in traditional costumes and live music on the slopes of Ladurns
Lederhosen im Schnee — literally "Lederhosen in the snow" — is one of the most original and beloved events on the South Tyrolean winter calendar. Every year, on the third Saturday of March, the Ladurns ski area, nestled in the picturesque Fleres Valley (Pflerschtal) in the municipality of Brenner (Autonomous Province of Bolzano), welcomes skiers and visitors for a day that blends sport, tradition, and fun.
The heart of the event is as simple as it is irresistible: you ski while wearing traditional Tyrolean costumes, the famous Lederhosen (leather breeches) for men and Dirndl for women. Anyone arriving in costume is entitled to a discounted ski pass, an incentive that fills the slopes with a kaleidoscope of folk attire every year. The perfectly groomed slopes of Ladurns, with their 18 kilometers of trails between 1,130 and 2,050 meters above sea level, provide the ideal backdrop for this colorful spectacle.
It is not just about skiing: throughout the day, the atmosphere is enlivened by live music on the mountain, with bands playing among the huts, shows, and entertainment. The mountain huts offer South Tyrolean gastronomic specialties and a warm welcome. At the end of the day, the party moves down to the valley with an après-ski show accompanied by a DJ, while a shuttle service connects Ladurns to Sterzing late in the evening for those who want to keep the fun going.
Organized by the Gossensass Tourist Association together with the Ladurns ski area, Lederhosen im Schnee has become a fixed appointment that bids farewell to the winter season in a climate of joy and strong South Tyrolean identity. It is an event designed for families, groups of friends, and ski enthusiasts who want to experience the South Tyrolean mountains in a unique way, immersed in Tyrolean folklore.
The Ladurns valley station is located in Fleres/Pflersch (39041), a hamlet of the municipality of Brenner/Brenner, in the Upper Isarco Valley, just a few kilometers from Sterzing and the Brenner Pass, in Trentino-South Tyrol.
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the third Saturday of the month, the Ladurns ski area hosted the annual appointment with skiing in traditional costume. Skiers in Lederhosen and Dirndl benefited from a discounted ski pass (special rate announced by the organizers). On the mountain, the NIAginua band enlivened the slopes and huts with live music, while in the evening, the après-ski party in the valley with a DJ closed the day; a shuttle service connected Ladurns to Sterzing late in the evening.
By car: A22 Brenner motorway, exit Sterzing/Vipiteno, then follow signs for Val di Fleres/Pflersch to the Ladurns valley station (Pflersch 94, 39041). By train: Sterzing/Fortezza station, then bus or shuttle to the valley.
