Three days of music, art, and tradition in the Sorbo district of Solofra
Le Vie del Sorbo is the event that brings the Sorbo district of Solofra, in the Province of Avellino, Campania, to life at the end of July. These three days are designed to experience the neighborhood in a new way, through music, entertainment, art, culture, tradition, great food, and community spirit. The streets and small squares of the district become the natural stage for a festival built by the residents, yet open to anyone wishing to discover a hidden corner of Irpinia.
This is not a top-down production: the program is created by the Santa Teresa al Sorbo Festival Committee and the local youth, who every year put together concerts, exhibitions, and convivial evenings. It is this participatory dimension that gives the event its most authentic character.
The common thread is the Church of Santa Teresa on Via Sorbo Soprano: a religious, historical, and community landmark for the entire district. The building, dedicated to the Holy Crucifix but known to everyone as Santa Teresa, was built in the 17th century in the Sorbo Soprano district and has been listed for years among the FAI's ยซPlaces of the Heartยป. It is no coincidence that the proceeds from the stalls are destined for the restoration and maintenance of the church: the festival is also a grassroots fundraiser to save a piece of local heritage.
During the evenings, the Pro Loco Solofra guides visitors through the building, sharing its history and artistic heritage with those arriving from outside and, often, even with the locals themselves.
The musical program unfolds between Via Sorbo Soprano and Piazzetta San Francesco, with free admission to all shows. The lineup deliberately alternates between very different genres, ensuring that every evening has its own audience and atmosphere:
Every evening, food stalls remain open, dedicated to traditional local products and Irpinian specialties. Dining takes place outdoors, seated in the streets of the district, in a simple and convivial format that is an integral part of the festival: as mentioned, the proceeds go entirely to the Church of Santa Teresa.
Le Vie del Sorbo is part of the festivities in honor of Saint Anne and the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel, which mark the end of July in Solofra every year. The procession of the statues through the streets of the district represents the most solemn moment of the event: immediately after, the secular festival resumes with street artists and concerts, in that blend of the sacred and the popular that is typical of neighborhood festivals in the South.
Nestled at about 400 meters above sea level in a basin of the Picentini Mountains, Solofra is known throughout Italy as one of the main leather-working districts, but it also preserves a historic center of significant value, dominated by the Collegiate Church of San Michele Arcangelo with its ceilings frescoed by the painter Francesco Guarini. Climbing up to the Sorbo district during the festival days is arguably the most authentic way to connect with this Irpinian town: not an event built for tourists, but a community telling its own story, through music, memory, and a bell tower in need of restoration.
From July 24th to 26th, 2026, the Sorbo district of Solofra, in the Province of Avellino, hosted the tenth edition of Le Vie del Sorbo, organized by the Santa Teresa al Sorbo Festival Committee as part of the festivities in honor of Saint Anne and the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel.
Three days designed to experience the neighborhood in a new way, through music, entertainment, art, culture, tradition, and good food, with all musical and theatrical events offering free admission between Via Sorbo Soprano and Piazzetta San Francesco. Alongside the concerts, an art and culture exhibition featured works and installations linked to the creativity, memory, and identity of the territory, while guided tours of the Church of Santa Teresa were curated by the Pro Loco Solofra.
The food stalls, open every evening with traditional local products, had a specific purpose: the proceeds were donated to the restoration and maintenance of the Church of Santa Teresa, a religious, historical, and community landmark for the entire district.
All shows took place on Via Sorbo Soprano and Piazzetta San Francesco, with free admission.

Solofra is located along the axis connecting Avellino to Salerno, at the foot of the Picentini Mountains. The Sorbo district can be reached on foot from the town center in a few minutes: it is best to leave your car in the town center parking lots, as the district streets are narrow with limited parking.
Guided tours of the Church of Santa Teresa are organized by the Pro Loco Solofra during the festival evenings. It is advisable to check the times on the Santa Teresa al Sorbo Festival Committee's channels.
Outdoor evenings: bring a light jacket, as temperatures drop after sunset at 400 meters above sea level. The festival is family-friendly.
