The food and wine festival of the Miglianico districts
In the heart of the Abruzzo summer, the historic center of Miglianico, a village in the province of Chieti overlooking the Foro valley, hosts one of the region's most beloved food and wine festivals: Le Contrade del Piacere. Launched in 2015 and organized by the Miglianico Pro Loco, the event has become a staple of the summer calendar, drawing visitors and tourists from all over Abruzzo.
The heart of the festival is the extensive gastronomic trail that winds through the streets and squares of the village, with Piazza Umberto I as its focal point. Each evening, about 15 stalls are set up, offering over 50 specialties of Abruzzese cuisine, all prepared with zero-kilometer ingredients from the Miglianico area and the Foro valley. These are the classic recipes passed down by the grandmothers and mothers of the local districts: duck gnocchi, panzerotti with anchovies and mozzarella, roasted kid with potatoes, sweet fritters, and many other traditional peasant dishes.
Le Contrade del Piacere is more than just great food. Every night, the village comes alive with live musical performances, bands that keep the crowd dancing, roving folklore through the streets, street performers, and figures in traditional Abruzzese dress welcoming visitors. Great attention is paid to the youngest guests, with children's entertainment provided every evening.
Sustainability is a hallmark of the event: only biodegradable materials are used, and all stallholders are required to follow strict recycling protocols, ensuring the festival is as environmentally conscious as it is delicious. In a genuine and convivial setting, Le Contrade del Piacere showcases the culinary identity of Miglianico and the province of Chieti, celebrating tradition, community spirit, and the joy of coming together.
The Le Contrade del Piacere festival returns to Miglianico from August 2 to 5, 2026, confirming its status as a highlight of the summer in the Chieti area. As per tradition, the village's historic center transforms into a grand culinary trail featuring about 15 food stalls, over 50 zero-kilometer Abruzzese specialties, live musical performances, roving folklore, and entertainment for the little ones.
The dates have been announced in the Miglianico municipal summer calendar; the detailed evening program (artists, concerts, and daily menus) will be released by the Pro Loco in the weeks leading up to the event. We recommend following the official Miglianico Pro Loco channels for updates.
