A tasty evening at the end of summer on the Salto Plateau

Late Summer Flavors is a gourmet evening held in early September that brings together residents and visitors in the village center of San Genesio Atesino/Jenesien, in the province of Bolzano, South Tyrol. Organized by the San Genesio Tourist Association, the event celebrates the end of summer with a convivial, open-air atmosphere among the houses of the village overlooking the Salto Plateau.

Culinary delights and local products

The stars of the evening are the many culinary delights of the South Tyrolean tradition. Along the village streets, you will find stands and food stalls where you can taste traditional dishes, local products, and seasonal specialties, following a gourmet path that highlights mountain cuisine and the work of Tschögglberg producers.

The local craft market

Alongside the gastronomic offerings, the event hosts a local craft market: stalls display handmade creations, traditional objects, and local products, offering a chance to discover the area's artisanal skill and take home an authentic souvenir of the Salto.

San Genesio Atesino and the Salto Plateau

San Genesio Atesino is a municipality of just over three thousand inhabitants nestled at an altitude of about 1,100 meters, just ten minutes from Bolzano. The village is the gateway to the Salto Plateau, the largest larch plateau in Europe, and the Tschögglberg (Monzoccolo), renowned for its pastures, typical Haflinger horses, and larch forests. This natural setting provides the backdrop for "Late Summer Flavors," which combines local fine dining with the charm of one of the most evocative panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Bolzano basin.

An end-of-season appointment

The evening is part of a rich calendar of food and wine events that enliven San Genesio between September and October, including the Schupfenfest, Törggelen, and the chestnut festival. "Late Summer Flavors" marks the opening of this season, offering a chance to bid farewell to summer while savoring local products during a pleasant village evening.
