Chioggia's blue fish heads to the mountains, between Villa Daziaro and the Lagorai range
The Lagorai to the Sea Fish Festival is the summer event that brings the flavours of the Adriatic to the Lagorai peaks in Pieve Tesino, a village in the Valsugana valley (Trento province) officially recognised as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. At the heart of the festival is a simple yet evocative idea: bringing two seemingly distant worlds—the Trentino mountains and the Venetian coast—together around the table.
The undisputed star is the blue fish from Chioggia, which reaches these heights thanks to a partnership with the Fisheries Foundation and the Chioggia fish market. For years, this initiative has promoted the quality and authenticity of high-Adriatic seafood beyond regional borders, turning a local village evening into a true bridge between the sea and the mountains.
The stage for the aperitif is one of the Tesino area's iconic landmarks: Villa Daziaro, the elegant "red villa" built in the 19th century by the Daziaro brothers. These print merchants from the small Trentino village built their fortunes across Paris, Warsaw, Moscow, and Saint Petersburg. Hosting the aperitif here adds a touch of historical charm to an already delicious evening, recalling the epic journeys of the Tesino peddlers who, with their wooden crates on their shoulders, reached the furthest corners of the globe.
The format blends gastronomy with conviviality: after the aperitif in the Villa Daziaro garden, a roving dinner guides guests through various seafood courses, concluding with live music at the Sports Centre, featuring the local folk group from Pieve Tesino. It is a village-scale festival, unpretentious and intimate, focusing on high-quality ingredients and the cosy atmosphere of a mountain village on a summer night.
Visiting the festival is also the perfect opportunity to explore Pieve Tesino and the Tesino plateau, a land of travellers and the birthplace of Alcide De Gasperi. Between the Per Via Museum, dedicated to prints and peddling, the Tesino Ecomuseum, and the Lagorai mountains, the village offers an authentic Trentino-Alto Adige holiday experience where the tradition of hospitality now meets the flavours of the sea.
The evening is organised by the Pro Loco Pieve Tesino in collaboration with the Chioggia Fisheries Foundation, which brings high-Adriatic seafood to the mountains. Admission is free, with food and drinks available for purchase.
