The autumn festival celebrating radicchio from the Tesino plateau
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Bieno Radicchio Festival is the gastronomic highlight that, every first Sunday of October, draws local food lovers and curious visitors from across Valsugana and beyond to this small village on the Tesino plateau. In the municipality of Bieno, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), radicchio is no ordinary vegetable: grown in the unique microclimate of the plateau, far from pollution, it is a prized local crop around which this now-traditional festival has grown.
The heart of the festival is the large food stand set up in the Parco Fluviale of Bieno, where radicchio is served in all its forms, from savory to sweet. The festival's signature dish features a complete menu of the most beloved preparations:
To accompany the dishes, local producers offer radicchio sauces, creams, and preserves made through artisanal processing, showcasing a short supply chain deeply rooted in the territory.
The day is not just about a village lunch. A market of local products comes to life around the stands with demonstrations, while children can enjoy a dedicated area with an inflatable playground and entertainment, including face painting, balloons, and soap bubbles. The atmosphere is enlivened by live music and, in the most extensive editions, by special attractions such as panoramic helicopter flights over the plateau.
Founded in 2006, the Bieno Radicchio Festival has surpassed eighteen editions and is now organized by the Radicchio Festival Committee, which brings together local volunteers and producers every year. More than just a food festival, it is a moment of community and a celebration of the agricultural identity of the Tesino area, where the small village of Bieno opens its doors to those wishing to discover an authentic corner of eastern Trentino.
The Radicchio Festival Committee organizes the festival every year on the first Sunday of October in the Parco Fluviale of Bieno. At the moment, the official dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been communicated: this page will be updated as soon as the Committee publishes the details. In line with previous editions, we expect the food stand with radicchio-based dishes, the local products market, children's entertainment, and live music.
Bieno is located on the Tesino plateau, in the upper eastern Valsugana (province of Trento). By car, it can be reached via the SS47 Valsugana road, exiting towards Tesino. The nearest train station is Strigno-Villa Agnedo, on the Trento-Venice line, from where you can continue by car or local transport.
The event generally opens at 10:30 AM, with the kitchen operating from 11:30 AM. The festival's signature dish costs approximately 15 euros. Admission to the festival area is free.
As this is an autumn mountain event, appropriate clothing is recommended. For updated information, you can contact the Radicchio Festival Committee (tel. +39 320 0454706) or the Municipality of Bieno.
