La Via dei Sapori: taste and theater in Acquarica del Capo
La Via dei Sapori is one of the most evocative summer events in lower Salento, hosted in the heart of Acquarica del Capo, a village that has been part of the municipality of Presicce-Acquarica in the province of Lecce since 2019. The event is not merely a traditional village festival: it is a truly immersive journey where the audience is accompanied from stop to stop through tastings of local products, theatrical performances, live music, and folk dances.
A journey through flavors, songs, and stories
Along the route, spectators traverse some of the village's most fascinating spots: the churchyard of the Church of San Carlo Borromeo, the interiors of the medieval castle (exceptionally opened for the occasion), Via Coletta, Piazza del Castello (also known as Piazza San Carlo), and Via Galilei. Every space transforms into a stage: actors and actresses from the Improvvisart company bring moments of storytelling and theatrical improvisation to life, while musicians, singers, and dancers evoke the peasant tradition and Salento folklore.
Food as narrative
The common thread of the evening is food, understood as the story of a community. Tastings of local products alternate with stories told around the fire, itinerant shows, stilt walkers, street artists, and visual performances. It is a multisensory experience designed to help visitors rediscover the authentic soul of this corner of the Capo di Leuca through taste and spectacle.

The event is organized by the Associazione Folkloristica La Quadriglia with artistic direction by Improvvisart and the support of the Municipality of Presicce-Acquarica. Admission is free and open to all, welcoming residents, tourists, and families visiting Salento during the summer.

As of now, the precise dates and program have not yet been published. The event is traditionally held in August, with free admission and a setting between the medieval castle and the village alleys.

How to get there
Acquarica del Capo (Municipality of Presicce-Acquarica) is located in lower Salento, in the province of Lecce. By car, it can be reached via the Lecce-Leuca expressway, taking the Presicce-Acquarica exit. The nearest train stations are served by Ferrovie del Sud Est; the reference airport is Brindisi-Salento.
