Three days of charcoal-grilled tradition in the village of La Serra, San Miniato
The La Serra Steak Festival is one of the most beloved spring gastronomic events in the San Miniato area, in the Province of Pisa. It takes place in La Serra, a small hilltop village nestled on the ridges overlooking the Arno Valley, and is organized by the local ARCI Club, the true heart of the village's social life. The undisputed queen of the table is the Florentine steak, the iconic cut of Tuscan cuisine, strictly grilled over charcoal according to tradition.
For three days, the ARCI Club pavilion in La Serra transforms into a large, convivial space where you can enjoy typical local specialties. Beyond the steak, the festival offers traditional Tuscan peasant dishes in a genuine, family-friendly atmosphere that attracts visitors from San Miniato and neighboring towns every year. It is a people's festival, defined by conviviality, the scent of wood smoke, and authentic home cooking, managed entirely by the club's volunteers.
The festival is part of the rich culinary calendar of San Miniato, a city known throughout Italy for its prized white truffle. The La Serra event opens the club's festival season and falls during the marzuolo truffle season (the spring truffle of the Tuscan hills), often celebrated in the same weeks with dedicated events. The La Serra area, immersed in the hills and woods of the San Miniato district, offers the perfect opportunity to combine exploring the territory with the pleasure of good food.
Now in its early editions, the Steak Festival has quickly become a fixed appointment of the spring in La Serra, capable of involving the entire village community. The formula is that of the most authentic Tuscan festivals: booking is recommended, service is provided by volunteers, and the menu is built around a single, great protagonist. It is the perfect occasion for those who want to savor a real Florentine steak in a genuine setting, far from the most crowded tourist circuits.
The 2026 edition of the La Serra Steak Festival kicked off the ARCI Club's festival season on the weekend of March 20-22, 2026. As per tradition, service was held for dinner only on Friday and Saturday, and for lunch only on Sunday. The absolute protagonist was the charcoal-grilled Florentine steak, accompanied by typical dishes from the San Miniato area. The event preceded the Marzuolo Truffle Festival by one week, confirming La Serra as a small spring capital of good food among the hills of San Miniato.
