About Primavera del Castellinaldo

In Castellinaldo d'Alba, in the heart of the Roero region, the Associazione Vinaioli del Castellinaldo and Go Wine invite wine enthusiasts to La Primavera del Castellinaldo Barbera d'Alba. A day in Piazza Castello featuring tasting tables with producers, glasses of Castellinaldo Barbera d'Alba and Arneis, and a convivial Producers' Dinner. An authentic opportunity to discover one of the most distinctive expressions of Piedmontese Barbera, told directly by those who craft it.

A weekend dedicated to the Barbera d'Alba of Roero

La Primavera del Castellinaldo Barbera d'Alba is the event that every spring transforms the small village of Castellinaldo d'Alba, in the province of Cuneo, into the capital of one of the most unique Barbera wines in Piedmont. Promoted by the Associazione Vinaioli del Castellinaldo—which currently brings together about twenty local wineries—in collaboration with Go Wine, the event is dedicated to showcasing the Castellinaldo Barbera d'Alba, the sub-zone of the denomination that uniquely defines this corner of Roero.

The tasting tables in Piazza Castello

The heart of the day is the tasting table setup in Piazza Castello on Sunday afternoon: producers are present in person at their stands, pouring their wines and sharing insights into their work in the vineyard and cellar, their stylistic choices, and their bond with the land. Available for tasting are the two signature wines of the village: Castellinaldo Barbera d'Alba and Arneis, the iconic white wine of Roero. It is a rare opportunity to taste and compare wines from an entire denomination while speaking directly with the winemakers.

The Producers' Dinner

The tasting session is followed in the evening by the Producers' Dinner: a gastronomic journey paired with Castellinaldo wines, a convivial moment that concludes the public-facing portion of the day. The event then continues with a day reserved for industry professionals, restaurateurs, wine merchants, and specialized press, dedicated to a technical deep dive into the denomination.

Castellinaldo and the Roero

Castellinaldo d'Alba is a hillside village in the Roero region, part of the Piedmontese Langhe-Roero-Monferrato territory recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Castellinaldo Barbera d'Alba denomination originates here from soils and microclimates that give this wine a recognizable, elegant, and long-lived character. The event is held under the patronage of the Enoteca Regionale del Roero and the Centro Studi sul Paesaggio Culturale Langhe Roero Monferrato, and is now a highly anticipated appointment for lovers of Piedmontese wine and slow enogastronomic tourism among the hills.

Why it's worth the trip

  • Tastings guided by the producers themselves in an intimate and welcoming square.
  • Focus on a niche denomination: the Castellinaldo Barbera d'Alba.
  • Convivial dinner paired with local wines.
  • Just minutes away from Alba, Bra, and the hills of Roero and the Langhe.
