Summer film festival at the Municipal Theatre of Vattaro
La Poltrona Blu is the summer film festival that brings the Municipal Theatre of Vattaro to life on the Vigolana Plateau, in the province of Trento. Every Tuesday evening at 8:30 PM, from June 23 to September 1, 2026, the public can enjoy free film screenings in a hall that is once again filling up with spectators of all ages. The initiative is promoted by the Pro Loco of Vattaro in close collaboration with the Municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana.
The festival was founded in 2000 by the local administration at the time, and starting in 2010, it was taken over by the Pro Loco of Vattaro, which over the years turned it into a staple of summer on the plateau. After a period of interruption due to financial difficulties, the 2026 edition marks the return of a cultural tradition dear to the community. As the president of the Pro Loco explained, the goal is to "recover past activities and circulate an idea of culture and community once again."
The La Poltrona Blu program alternates between documentaries, auteur films, animated features, and comedies, with a selection designed for a wide audience: from families with children to the most demanding film buffs. Free admission makes the festival an accessible leisure opportunity for both residents and tourists, a simple way to experience the village even on summer evenings. The Municipal Theatre, the cultural heart of Vattaro, thus becomes a weekly meeting point for the entire plateau community.
Vattaro is the most lively village in the Municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana, established in 2016 from the merger of Bosentino, Centa San Nicolò, Vattaro, and Vigolo Vattaro. Nestled at an altitude of about 700 meters, some twenty kilometers from Trento, the plateau is a popular destination for its cool climate, forests, and hiking trails at the foot of the Vigolana mountain range. The film festival is part of a summer full of cultural and outdoor events, offering an evening alternative to the local event calendar.
The 2026 edition relaunches the festival after a period of suspension. Screenings are held at the Municipal Theatre of Vattaro every Tuesday at 8:30 PM, from June 23 to September 1, with free admission. The program is promoted by the Pro Loco of Vattaro with the Municipality of Altopiano della Vigolana.
The lineup includes the opening documentary Il senso della bellezza (June 23), Juror No. 2 by Clint Eastwood (June 30), The Quiet Girl, Remember, The Holdovers, Mickey 17, the animated film The Famous Invasion of Bears in Sicily (August 11), Phantom Thread, Hit Man, and, for the closing night, The Phoenician Scheme on September 1.
Vattaro is located on the Vigolana Plateau, about 20 km southeast of Trento. By car, it can be reached from the SS47 Valsugana road by taking the turn-off towards the plateau; intercity bus connections are available from the provincial capital. The Municipal Theatre is in the town center.
Screenings are held every Tuesday at 8:30 PM, from June 23 to September 1, 2026. Admission is free and no reservation is required. It is recommended to arrive a few minutes early to secure a seat.
