An exhibition and market in the green heart of Rome

La Conserva della Neve is one of the most beloved horticultural events in the capital: a gardening exhibition and market held within the Botanical Garden Museum of Rome, managed by Sapienza University of Rome, in the Trastevere district at the foot of the Janiculum Hill. Twelve hectares of historic garden provide the backdrop for an event that combines plant sales, scientific outreach, and landscape culture, attracting specialist nurserymen, collectors, and enthusiasts from across the Lazio region and beyond.

The 2026 Edition: Fruits

The 21st edition, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, 2026, revolves around the theme of Fruits: a journey that goes beyond botanical value to explore biodiversity, food resources, artistic inspiration, and the cultural significance of fruit. Along the garden paths, visitors will find nurseries and specialized collections, such as the Azienda Vivaistica Frutticoltura di Orvieto, with its rare varieties and pomegranate collection, and Hortus Hesperidis, dedicated to ancient citrus fruits.

Conferences and Meetings at the Orangery

The Orangery (Aranciera) of the Botanical Garden hosts a rich program of conferences. Isabella Dalla Ragione leads the meeting "Wonderful and delightful fruit-bearers. Species and varieties of fruit trees, between beauty and utility in orchards and the city," while Giulio Leonardi presents "Native fruits of Lazio." In the afternoon, Paolo Scotto discusses "Knowledge and flavors. Ancient fruit in papal cuisine between the Renaissance and Baroque periods." Sunday is also dedicated to a book donation and the presentation of volumes on the garden, with a talk by Alberta Campitelli on the art of Roman gardens between aesthetics and productivity.

Workshops, Children, and Guided Tours

• Japanese textile art workshops (Shibori and Suminagashi), with sessions in the morning and afternoon;
• Kapla wooden construction games for children, who enter for free up to age 12;
• Guided tours starting from the Cavallerizza area, to discover the history of Villa Corsini, the main botanical collections, and research and conservation activities;
• Electric shuttle service to facilitate visitor mobility within the park.

A Sustainable Event

The event places great emphasis on sustainability: the materials used are recyclable, and the catering service, provided by PDP Catering, highlights aromatic herbs. La Conserva della Neve thus confirms its status as a benchmark event for gardening in Rome, capable of combining the sale of collector plants with environmental outreach in the Municipality of Rome, the heart of the Lazio Region.
