Una Piazza di Libri is a widespread literary festival that every autumn transforms the historic center of Rome into a vast open-air reading space. Promoted by the Il Talento di Roma association in collaboration with Municipio Roma I, the event brings books and authors out of traditional halls and into the squares, libraries, schools, local markets, and museums of the Capital.
A widespread festival in the heart of the Capital
The idea behind the festival is simple yet ambitious: to move beyond the format of classic literary festivals to reach citizens in their everyday surroundings. Book presentations, meetings with writers, and reading groups take place in the lesser-known squares of the historic center, highlighting often-overlooked corners of Municipio I in Rome, Lazio.
The 2026 edition: "Words Beyond All Borders"
From September through November 2026, the festival will revolve around the theme "Words Beyond All Borders", a journey dedicated to the universal themes of identity and human destiny. The program brings together leading voices of Italian culture, including Dacia Maraini, Gianni Cuperlo, Piero Dorfles, and Renato Minore, in dialogue with readers and audiences of all ages.

A community project
Founded in 2024 by the Il Talento di Roma association, chaired by Chiara Mazza, Una Piazza di Libri is designed as an opportunity for encounter and community building through culture. The collaboration with Municipio Roma I confirms the vocation of Rome's historic center as a laboratory for widespread culture, capable of intertwining literature, artistic heritage, and neighborhood life. Admission to all events is free.

From September to November 2026, the Una Piazza di Libri festival returns to the historic center of Rome with the theme "Words Beyond All Borders", dedicated to the universal themes of identity and human destiny.
