«Uto Ughi for Rome» is a classical music festival strongly championed, conceived, and directed by Maestro Uto Ughi, one of the most celebrated Italian violinists. His mission is clear and generous: to make the great classical repertoire a universal heritage, accessible to all, and particularly to young audiences who have fewer opportunities to listen to it. This is why the hallmark of the festival is that concerts are free of charge, upon reservation, and held in the heart of Rome, in the Lazio region.

Uto Ughi, a Maestro at the service of the public

More than just a series of concerts, «Uto Ughi for Rome» is a cultural experience: the Maestro does not simply play, but guides the audience through the pieces with stories, anecdotes, and explanations, restoring the meaning and beauty of every musical page. It is this narrative dimension, combined with the unmistakable sound of his violin, that makes every event a moment of discovery, even for those approaching classical music for the first time.

The orchestras: I Filarmonici di Roma and the Youth Orchestra

The musical heart of the festival is I Filarmonici di Roma, of which Ughi is the lead violinist and conductor, and the «Uto Ughi for Rome» Youth Orchestra, composed of the best students selected from Italian conservatories. This ensemble embodies the project's other great vocation: the promotion of young talent, who share the stage with established international performers.

A repertoire from the Baroque to the 20th century

The programs span three centuries of music history, from the great Baroque concertos for violin and orchestra by Vivaldi and Bach—including the famous Four Seasons—to Boccherini, Mozart, Beethoven, and later works by Kreisler and Saint-Saëns. The festival also features chamber recitals, duets, and major symphonic works performed by the youth orchestra.

Concerts in the heart of Rome and along the coast

The festival inhabits the city's most evocative locations: historic churches, theaters, and squares in the center, as well as the suburbs and the Roman coast, as demonstrated by the concert held in Ostia, in Piazza Anco Marzio, in the X Municipality. Bringing great music out of traditional halls and among the people is an integral part of the project's spirit.

The 2026 edition

The «Uto Ughi for Rome» project has been admitted to the Roma Creativa 365 public notice promoted by Roma Capitale and Zètema Progetto Cultura for the 2025-2026 biennium, confirming its continuation.
