A festival spanning half a century
The Concerti del Tempietto - Festival of Nations Music Festival has been the longest-running classical music series in Rome since 1974. Organized by the Il Tempietto Cultural Association within the Municipality of Rome, the capital of the Lazio region, the festival offers an average of two hundred concerts per year, spread across seasons that cover the entire calendar: spring, summer, autumn, as well as Easter and Christmas events. However, the heart of the programming remains the summer, when the series takes the name Roman Nights at the Theatre of Marcellus.
The Chiostro di Campitelli, an open-air concert hall
The main venue is the Chiostro di Campitelli, located at Piazza di Campitelli 9, adjacent to the church of Santa Maria in Portico in Campitelli and overlooking the remains of the Temple of Apollo Sosianus, just a stone's throw from the Theatre of Marcellus. Performing here means having two thousand years of history as a backdrop: the audience listens to piano, strings, and vocal performances with Roman arches and ancient capitals as the only scenery. In case of bad weather, concerts are moved to the Sala Baldini, an indoor space within the Santa Maria in Portico church complex, ensuring the evening is never cancelled.
How the evening is organized
The format has become a classic of the 'Estate Romana' (Roman Summer) and repeats daily with the same schedule:

- 7:45 PM - Historical and archaeological guided tour of the Theatre of Marcellus area and the Campitelli district, in Italian or English, reserved for ticket holders;
- 8:30 PM - Evening concert, often the most anticipated moment of the day.
A single ticket grants access to both concerts and the guided tour: a formula that has made the festival popular among both Romans and foreign visitors, who find here an unusual way to discover the historic center after sunset.
International programming
The subtitle Festival of Nations Music Festival is no coincidence: every year, the festival hosts musicians from across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, often young performers selected through international competitions and masterclasses. The repertoire ranges from the Baroque of Bach to the Romanticism of Chopin, Liszt, and Schubert, from French impressionists like Debussy to twentieth-century works by Bartók, and even the tango of Piazzolla and contemporary music. The 2026 summer season of the Concerti del Tempietto spans over three months, from June 26 to September 27, in the Chiostro di Campitelli at the Theatre of Marcellus, in Rome. As every year, the typical day includes an afternoon concert at 6:30 PM, a historical-archaeological guided tour at 7:45 PM, and an evening concert at 8:30 PM, all included in a single ticket.
The season opened on June 11, ahead of the summer schedule, with a piano recital by Martha Noguera in the auditorium of the Casa per Ferie Santa Maria alle Fornaci. Among the events announced for July are the recital by pianist Riccardo Sapio dedicated to Chopin, the concert by the WeSingingChoirs choral ensemble, and the duo formed by Gorjan Stojanovski and Anica Neloska, featuring works by Weber, Grieg, Schubert, Mascagni, and Bartók. The season also hosts masterclasses and the final stages of international competitions such as Danubia Talents and IAPMT, which bring young performers from all over the world to the Tempietto.
In case of bad weather, concerts are held in the indoor Sala Baldini, within the Santa Maria in Portico in Campitelli church complex.

How to get there
The Chiostro di Campitelli is located at Piazza di Campitelli 9, in the Campitelli district, a few minutes' walk from Piazza Venezia and the Portico d'Ottavia. Buses run along Via del Teatro di Marcello and Via Petroselli; Metro line B, Colosseo stop, then about a 10-minute walk. The area is a restricted traffic zone (ZTL): it is advisable to arrive by public transport or park outside the ZTL.
Tickets
Tickets cost 36, 25, and 14 euros depending on the section, and can be purchased online on the official website. Some events offer free admission. The ticket includes both daily concerts and the 7:45 PM guided tour.
Tips
