The spring fair of the Valsangone valley, blending rural roots with the legendary Budinè
The Sangano Agricultural, Craft and Trade Fair is the most anticipated spring event in this small town in the Valsangone valley, in the province of Turin. For two days, the town centre comes alive with the voices of farmers, the scent of local produce, and the bustle of exhibitors, in a celebration that puts the rural roots of the Piedmont region at the heart of the experience.
The dialect name of the fair, "L Budinè e la Budinera al Mercà", refers to the Budinè, a traditional blood sausage seasoned with spices that has always been a staple of the valley's peasant cuisine. The flavours of the fair revolve around this iconic product: cheeses, cured meats, honey, bread, pastries, and other Piedmontese culinary specialties, all showcased at the "Sapori in Piazza" (Flavours in the Square) stands.
The event brings together agricultural, artisanal, and commercial dimensions. Along Via San Lorenzo, Piazza Matta, and the surrounding streets, you will find:
Organised by the Municipality of Sangano with the support of the Pro Loco and local associations, the fair is much more than a market: it is a celebration that unites the entire Valsangone community, honours the bond with the land, and keeps the crafts and flavours of yesteryear alive. The tractor parade, convivial moments hosted by the Alpini, and evening entertainment round off a weekend that has been attracting visitors from Turin and the surrounding area for years.
Sangano is located in the Valsangone valley, about 20 km west of Turin.
