The festival celebrating the food and wine excellence of the Aurunci Mountains, in the village of Badia di Esperia
Journey Through the Flavors of Lazio is a food and wine event held in Badia di Esperia, a village in the municipality of Esperia, in the province of Frosinone, southern Lazio. The festival enlivens Piazza Tromba di Rose and transforms the village at the foot of the Aurunci Mountains into a widespread showcase of local products, featuring free tastings, stalls from local farms, folk music, and entertainment for all ages.
The signature product of the event is the Marzolina di Esperia, a soft goat cheese that is a Slow Food Presidium of the Aurunci dairy tradition, which gives its name to conferences and in-depth discussions dedicated to its protection. Surrounding this excellence is a broader narrative of landscape, community, and sustainable development: not just a festival, but a day to rediscover the agricultural and pastoral roots of a territory that entrusts its identity to its flavors.
The stalls offer products from farms in Esperia and neighboring towns. Among the protagonists of the tastings:
Alongside the products to be showcased, there is no shortage of popular cuisine, from meats to traditional first courses, served at the food stalls.
The day is accompanied by folk music and activities and entertainment designed for children, making the event suitable for the whole family. Discussion moments and conferences involve producers, local administrators, and regional entities such as the Lazio Region and ARSIAL, testifying to a festival that combines taste with reflection on the future of local agriculture.
Located between the Liri Valley and the Aurunci Mountains Natural Park, Esperia is a village in the Ciociaria region that preserves a precious rural and gastronomic heritage. "Journey Through the Flavors of Lazio" is today one of the best opportunities to discover it, in an authentic and convivial atmosphere that restores the deep bond between the community and its land.
