About Jazz Summer Fest

The Jazz Summer Fest is the summer jazz campus organized by the Fondazione Fossano Musica, held in Fossano, in the heart of the Cuneo province. For four days, Palazzo Burgos transforms into a musical laboratory open to instrumentalists and vocalists of all levels: individual and group lessons, studies in improvisation and harmony, jam sessions, and evening concerts open to the public. It is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the language of jazz alongside nationally and internationally acclaimed teachers in an intense and convivial atmosphere.

Four days immersed in jazz, in Fossano

The Jazz Summer Fest is the summer campus dedicated to jazz organized by the Fondazione Fossano Musica, one of the most vibrant educational institutions in the Cuneo province. The venue is the charming Palazzo Burgos, in the historic center of Fossano, Piedmont: for a few days, the building turns into a musical workshop where training intertwines with live performance and listening.

The format is not that of a classic stage festival: the Jazz Summer Fest is first and foremost an intensive campus that alternates individual lessons and group sessions, with a special focus on ensemble playing. Alongside technical study, there is space for improvisation, applied harmony, and jazz history, always approached with a practical focus. Each day closes with jam sessions and evening concerts, moments where students and teachers share the stage and where the local public can participate in the life of the festival.

Who is it for?

The Jazz Summer Fest is aimed at instrumentalists and vocalists of varying experience: the campus welcomes those who play piano, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, drums, guitar, bass, and double bass, as well as voice. Spots are intentionally limited to ensure a personalized path and a direct relationship with the teachers.

  • Individual and group lessons
  • Ensemble music workshops
  • Applied jazz history, harmony, and improvisation
  • Evening jam sessions
  • Concerts open to the public

A distinguished faculty

The strength of the festival lies in its faculty, composed of musicians active on the national and international scene. Notable names include Francesco Bertone, Fulvio Chiara, Fabio Gorlier, and Gianni Virone, supported by other professionals who lead the various instrumental and vocal sections. It is this constant dialogue between high-level teaching and live practice that makes the Jazz Summer Fest a highly anticipated event in the Fossano summer.

A scholarship for the youngest

The festival looks closely at new generations: each edition includes a scholarship for the youngest and most deserving musician among the participants, awarded at the discretion of the teachers. It is a concrete sign of the educational vocation of the Fondazione Fossano Musica, which has been promoting musical culture in Fossano and throughout the Cuneo province for years.

The festival in the life of the city

Part of the Foundation's broader summer program, the Jazz Summer Fest contributes to enlivening Fossano's cultural summer alongside other musical events in the city. The evening concerts, in particular, are an opportunity for the public to discover the work done during the campus live and to enjoy quality music evenings in the heart of Piedmont.
