The half marathon on the Trani seafront, winding between the port, the Cathedral, and the olive groves of Puglia
The Tranincorsa Half Marathon is the most anticipated running event in Trani, a city in the Barletta-Andria-Trani (BAT) province, in the heart of the Adriatic Puglia region. Every autumn, thousands of runners choose this half marathon to race along one of the most picturesque coastal stretches in Southern Italy: the start and finish lines are set in Piazza Marinai d'Italia, just steps away from the port and the famous Romanesque Cathedral overlooking the sea.
The course, certified by FIDAL at the official distance of 21.097 km, alternates between the asphalt of the seafront and the former State Road 16 towards Bisceglie and back, and the charming chianche cobblestones of Trani's historic center. It is a predominantly flat, fast, and scenic route closed to traffic, offering stunning views of the harbor, the Swabian Castle, and the coastline. Alongside the competitive race, the event also features a non-competitive run open to everyone, including walkers and families.
Tranincorsa is more than just a local race: in recent years, it has taken on a leading role on the national stage, hosting events such as the National Inter-Force Championship and the FIDAL BAT Provincial Championship. Athletes from military sports groups and law enforcement agencies compete on the streets of Trani alongside amateur runners from all over Puglia and neighboring regions. The event also has a strong inclusive and charitable spirit, with the participation of athletes with disabilities accompanied along the course.
The event is organized by A.S.D. Atletica Tommaso Assi Trani under the aegis of FIDAL Puglia, with the support of the Municipality of Trani and the Puglia Region. For running enthusiasts, Tranincorsa has become a fixed date on the autumn Puglian running calendar, capable of transforming the entire city into a grand open-air festival of sport for a weekend.
The 2026 edition of the Tranincorsa Half Marathon, now in its 16th year, takes place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in Trani. The race on the certified distance of 21.097 km starts at 9:00 AM from Piazza Marinai d'Italia and confirms its dual competitive value, hosting the events of the National Inter-Force Championship and the FIDAL BAT Provincial Championship โ Trofeo degli Ulivi 2026. Alongside the competitive half marathon, the non-competitive run open to all returns.
Route: FIDAL-certified course, predominantly flat and closed to traffic, through city streets, the former SS16 towards Bisceglie and back, with sections on the historic center's chianche stone paving. Combined Championships: National Inter-Force Championship and FIDAL BAT Provincial Championship (Trofeo degli Ulivi 2026).
By car: Trani is accessible via the SS16 bis; ample parking is available near the port and the city center. By train: Trani station is on the Adriatic line (Bari-Foggia), just a few minutes' walk from the starting area. By plane: Bari-Palese Airport is approximately 45 km away.
Online registration via the ICRON portal within the deadlines indicated in the regulations (2026 edition: by Thursday, October 8). Reserved for FIDAL-registered athletes, RUNCARD holders, or those with valid competitive sports medical certification. The non-competitive run is open to everyone.
