The major traveling street food festival kicks off its tour in Rome at Piazza San Giovanni Bosco
Piazza San Giovanni Bosco, in the Don Bosco district of Rome, becomes the stage for one of Italy's most popular traveling gastronomic events: International Street Food. Organized by A.I.R.S. - Associazione Italiana Ristoratori di Strada, the event brings dozens of food trucks and stalls to the capital, showcasing street cuisine from every corner of the globe. The Rome stop in Don Bosco is traditionally the one that opens the national tour, an event highly anticipated by enthusiasts and families in the city's southeast quadrant.
The festival is a true journey through the flavors of the five continents. Offerings include Abruzzese arrosticini, mantecata pasta, classic Roman fried snacks, Neapolitan pizza, as well as smash burgers and Angus burgers, Spanish paella, gourmet octopus sandwiches, fried fish, and specialties from Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, right up to churros and the Hungarian kürtős kalács, a pastry cooked over embers. There is no shortage of craft beer from Italian and international microbreweries and traditional desserts, both Italian and foreign.
The 2026 edition marks a significant milestone: the tenth anniversary of International Street Food. Over ten years, the event has grown into a circuit that spans the entire peninsula, helping to bring dignity and recognition to quality street food. The project is also linked to the television program Il Trono del Gusto, aired on Rai 2, which brought the world of street food into Italian homes.
The setting is Piazza San Giovanni Bosco, a spacious area in the Tuscolano district dominated by the monumental Salesian basilica. For three days, the square comes alive with aromas, music, and communal tables in a festive atmosphere suitable for all ages. Admission is free: you only pay for what you choose to taste as you stroll freely among the stalls. It is the ideal occasion for an informal dinner, an aperitif with craft beer, or a delicious snack with friends.
From March 6 to 8, 2026, Piazza San Giovanni Bosco hosts the opening stop of the International Street Food national tour, now in its tenth edition. The event, organized by A.I.R.S. - Associazione Italiana Ristoratori di Strada led by president Alfredo Orofino, celebrates ten years of activity with the customary Roman stop in the Don Bosco district.
The stars are street chefs and restaurateurs with Italian and international specialties: Abruzzese arrosticini, Roman fried snacks, Neapolitan pizza, smash burgers and Angus burgers, paella, Brazilian, Argentine, and Mexican cuisine, gourmet sandwiches, churros, and Hungarian kürtős kalács. To accompany, craft beer from Italian and global microbreweries and traditional desserts.
Throughout the event: food trucks and stalls with international street food, craft beer area, traditional desserts, and options for all tastes, in an open square with free admission.
