Insieme a Civitella, the summer of the wolf village

In the heart of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, perched above Lake Barrea and surrounded by the beech forests of the Camosciara, Civitella Alfedena (Province of L'Aquila) is one of the most charming villages in the upper Sangro Valley. Famous for its Apennine Wolf Wildlife Area and its maze of stone alleys, the village transforms in summer into a small, widespread stage thanks to Insieme a Civitella, the event program promoted by the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Civitella Alfedena.

A widespread festival of culture and tradition

More than just a single event, it is an entire summer program that fills the squares, clearings, and alleys of the historic center between July and August. The formula is that of an expanded village festival: from evening concerts to craft and local produce markets, from book presentations to ethnobotanical walks along the Park's trails, and from circus and street performances to dance evenings under the stars.

The program features music in many forms—from guitar concerts to quartets, from traditional Abruzzese folk songs to dance nights—alongside activities for families and children, nature workshops, conferences on folklore and transhumance, and soccer and bocce tournaments that involve both young and old. It is a way to bring the village to life for its residents and the many visitors who choose Civitella Alfedena as their base for exploring the Park in summer.

A village to be explored on foot

The strength of Insieme a Civitella lies in its connection to the territory: the events are village-scale, often free and held outdoors, designed to intertwine with nature walks, wildlife watching, and the discovery of typical products from the Abruzzo Apennines. Together with the nearby Suoni sul Lago Folk Festival, the event makes Civitella Alfedena a small cultural capital of the Abruzzo mountain summer.

The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the program is traditionally released by the Municipality and the Pro Loco in the weeks leading up to the start of summer.
