Theatre, music, and performance at Santa Maria del Monastero
INSCENA is the theatre festival of the Municipality of Manta, a village in the Saluzzo area of the Cuneo province, nestled at the foot of the Piedmontese Alps. Created to bring live theatre to a small town, the festival is organized by the municipal administration in collaboration with the Compagnia Primo Atto APS and has established itself as one of the most anticipated cultural events of the local season.
The common thread of INSCENA is the desire to explore different forms of theatre, alternating genres and styles: from light and brilliant comedy to monologues, and from social narratives to musical storytelling. Each edition is divided into several events spread between winter-spring and autumn, accompanying the audience throughout much of the year.
The performances take place in the church of Santa Maria del Monastero, an intimate and highly evocative space that lends an atmospheric quality to the evenings. Its proximity to the famous Castello della Manta, a FAI property known for the late-Gothic frescoes in the Baronial Hall, places the festival within a context of strong historical and artistic identity.
INSCENA hosts productions by the Compagnia Primo Atto itself as well as other Piedmontese and national theatre groups. Over the years, the stage has featured texts by Italian and international authors, performed by actors and directors from the Cuneo and Turin areas. The festival provides space for both comedies designed for a wide audience and social theatre productions capable of combining entertainment with reflection.
Attending INSCENA means discovering an authentic corner of Piedmont: a small town in the Saluzzo area that, thanks to the commitment of the administration and volunteers, manages to build a high-quality theatre season. For those who love theatre and wish to combine it with discovering the heritage of the Cuneo region, INSCENA is the ideal opportunity for a unique evening.
The fourth edition of INSCENA confirms the formula that has made the festival an anticipated event in the Saluzzo area: performances ranging from light comedy to social narrative, hosted in the intimate setting of Santa Maria del Monastero in Manta (CN). The festival is curated by the Municipality of Manta together with the Compagnia Primo Atto APS.
The program offers evenings that vary in genre and tone, from the laughter of comedy to the depth of spoken theatre, confirming the intention to alternate different languages and bring Piedmontese productions to Manta.
Letti gemelli - a light and brilliant comedy performed by the Compagnia Primo Atto APS.
Rachel - Campionessa di Natura - a monologue dedicated to Rachel Carson, marine biologist and author of 'Silent Spring'. Featuring Federico Scarpino, written and directed by Rossana Dassetto Daidone, produced by Compagnia In Palcoscenico.
The festival includes further events distributed throughout the year; the full program is updated by the Municipality of Manta and the Compagnia Primo Atto.
