The travelling festival that turns the Maremma into a widespread stage
I Luoghi del Tempo is one of the most beloved festivals in the Grosseto Maremma, Tuscany: a travelling event that has been guiding audiences for over fifteen years to discover a territory rich in villages, medieval fortresses, villas, pine forests, natural oases, and archaeological sites often far from mainstream tourist circuits. The concept is simple yet powerful: to bring art, words, and music to the most hidden and evocative corners of the province of Grosseto, turning every location into a natural stage.
Organised by the M.Arte Association, the festival takes place every year between late May and mid-June, with a series of evening events touching various municipalities in the Colline Metallifere and the Maremma. Each evening pairs a prominent guest from the Italian cultural scene—writers, actors, journalists, singer-songwriters—with an exceptional landscape and a convivial moment dedicated to local flavours.
Among the most evocative stops is Casale di Pari, a small and charming hamlet in the municipality of Civitella Paganico, in the heart of the Grosseto province. Here, the festival offers an evening entirely dedicated to poetry and singer-songwriter music, produced in collaboration with the Gabinetto Vieusseux in Florence.
The audience is led on a poetic walk through the village streets, where the poets' words engage with the landscape and the history of the place, culminating in an evening musical reading and an aperitif featuring local gastronomic excellence. It is an experience designed for those who love slow-paced culture, immersed in the Maremma countryside and the traditions of small Tuscan villages.
Beyond Civitella Paganico, the festival editions reach numerous Maremma municipalities, including Castiglione della Pescaia, Gavorrano, Roccastrada, Scarlino, Monterotondo Marittimo, Santa Fiora, Follonica, and the archaeological area of Cosa in Ansedonia. This travelling format has become the event's hallmark and an original way to promote the cultural and environmental identity of southern Tuscany.
I Luoghi del Tempo is much more than a cultural review: it is a way to narrate the Maremma and its communities through landscape, memory, and art, making even the smallest villages like Casale di Pari the protagonists.
As part of the 16th edition of I Luoghi del Tempo, the festival stopped in Casale di Pari, a hamlet of Civitella Paganico, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with a day dedicated to poetry and music, produced in collaboration with the Gabinetto Vieusseux of Florence. An intimate evening among the village streets and the Grosseto Maremma countryside in Tuscany.
The protagonists were poet Guido Catalano, singer-songwriter Cristina Donà, and composer Saverio Lanza, in a programme that intertwined poetic words and live music, closing with a toast featuring typical local products.
