A festival that has become a symbol of the Valdichiana

The Monte San Savino Porchetta Festival is one of the most renowned culinary events in the province of Arezzo and all of Tuscany. It takes place every September in the historic center of the village, a small Renaissance jewel nestled between the Valdichiana and the Valdarno valleys. It attracts thousands of visitors drawn by the unmistakable aroma of Savinese porchetta, a product deeply rooted in the territory and now a true mark of local identity.

The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Monte San Savino with the support of the Municipality, transforming the squares, loggias, and streets of the center into a grand culinary journey featuring food stalls, tastings, shows, and festivities.

Savinese porchetta: the scent of garlic and fennel

The porchetta of Monte San Savino is famous for its intense and characteristic aroma, derived from the garlic and wild fennel used during preparation. According to tradition, the pig is deboned and stuffed with salt, pepper, garlic, aromatic herbs, and offal, then slow-roasted in a wood-fired oven for several hours. The result is tender, flavorful meat, served sliced as a main course or in the famous sandwiches.

During the festival, the "masters of porchetta" present their products to visitors, accompanied by other typical Aretine and Tuscan specialties: pici pasta, grilled meat, mixed appetizers, gnocchi, and local wines.

The Guinness World Record for the longest porchetta in the world

Monte San Savino has entered the Guinness World Records for the longest porchetta in the world, a milestone that has helped make the festival known far beyond regional borders. Over the years, this record has become one of the event's defining features and a source of pride for the local community, which has made it a symbol of its gastronomic tradition.

Five days of celebration: taste, music, and tradition

In addition to tastings, the Porchetta Festival offers a packed calendar of initiatives: gala dinners in the most evocative spots of the village such as the Hanging Garden of Palazzo di Monte, concerts and live music, DJ sets for younger crowds at the Logge dei Mercanti, theatrical performances, sports events like the Porchetta Bike and the non-competitive walk, as well as re-enactments of local traditions like the Gioco del Pallone col Bracciale.

The setting is the Renaissance historic center of Monte San Savino, with its famous Loggia dei Mercanti attributed to Andrea Sansovino, and the historic squares and palaces that make the festival not only a culinary experience but also a pleasant opportunity to discover one of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany.
