In the heart of the Baroque town of Acireale, near Catania, I Colori del Gusto is a food and wine festival that celebrates authentic flavors, culinary artistry, and the gastronomic and viticultural excellence of Sicily. The event is set against the stunning backdrop of Piazza Duomo, where baroque facades and the cathedral frame a large open-air gourmet village.
The format blends spectacular performances with in-depth learning. The stage hosts live cooking shows by chefs and pizza masters who tell the story of Sicily through their dishes, while dedicated areas host masterclasses led by industry professionals. Wine and olive oil sessions are curated by the AIS Catania sommeliers, while cheese tastings are guided by ONAF experts, focusing on pairings that highlight the harmony between local dairy and Sicilian wines.
Surrounding the main stage, tasting stalls and exhibition stands offer the chance to discover the island's typical products—from preserves and pastries to artisanal goods and local wineries—creating a journey that celebrates local producers and the entire food supply chain.
Organized by the Municipality of Acireale with the support of regional and local bodies, I Colori del Gusto has quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the autumn in the Catania region. Beyond its culinary focus, the festival also has a charitable side, donating a portion of the proceeds from its activities to support local associations.
