The Sunday antique and collectibles market in Catania
The Archi della Marina Flea Market is one of the most beloved and popular events in Catania. Every Sunday morning, from the crack of dawn until lunchtime, the arches of the Archi della Marina transform into a labyrinth of stalls dedicated to antiques, second-hand goods, and collectibles. It is a local ritual that renews itself week after week, all year round, attracting enthusiasts, curious visitors, and bargain hunters from across the province of Catania and beyond.
The setting is the evocative Archi della Marina, the imposing 19th-century railway viaduct running along Via Cardinale Dusmet, behind Piazza del Duomo and just a short walk from the historic Fish Market and Villa Pacini. The market, which has changed locations several times throughout its long history—starting from Piazza Carlo Alberto—has found its most recognizable home under these arches, in the heart of the city's historic center.
With about a hundred exhibitors, the selection is vast and constantly changing:
Under the arches, there is no shortage of food: makeshift restaurants and stalls serve freshly caught fish, roasted artichokes and peppers, spices, and seasonal fruit, such as the famous Sicilian Tarocco oranges.
More than just a market, the Flea Market is a slice of life in Catania: friendly vendors, polite bargaining, and groups of elderly locals playing cards between the stalls. It is an authentic experience that reflects the city's popular spirit, organized by the Municipality of Catania in one of Italy's most tradition-rich regions, Sicily.
For 2026, the Archi della Marina Flea Market confirms its weekly schedule, every Sunday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM, along Via Cardinale Dusmet in Catania. The selection remains traditional: antique furniture and objects, vinyl records of all genres, vintage cameras, ceramics, coins, jewelry, costume jewelry, and retro items offered by about a hundred exhibitors. There is no shortage of food stalls under the arches. The initiative, with free admission, is organized by the Municipality of Catania.
Every Sunday, all year round, from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It is best to arrive early to find the best items.
