The organic, craft, and fair trade market in Catania

'A Fera Bio is one of the most long-standing and beloved benchmarks for ethical shopping in the Municipality of Catania. Born in 2004 from a group of citizens and producers committed to organic farming, the market has built a loyal community over time around the values of short supply chains, seasonality, and respect for farming labor. Today, 'A Fera Bio is recognized as a Slow Food Earth Market, an international network that connects small producers directly with citizens.
The heart of the market consists of organic and local Sicilian agricultural products, sold directly by the producers. At the stalls, you can purchase:
There is no shortage of tastings, taste workshops, and moments dedicated to families, making the market a small Sunday celebration as well as a place for conscious shopping.
By adhering to the Slow Food philosophy, 'A Fera Bio promotes food that is "good, clean, and fair": high-quality, produced with respect for the environment, and fairly remunerated for those who grow it. The short supply chain shortens the distance between field and table, guarantees freshness and honest prices, and strengthens the bond between the city and the countryside of the Etna region. The market is also an opportunity for meeting, food education, and showcasing the agricultural biodiversity of the Province of Catania.
'A Fera Bio takes place at the Madre Teresa di Calcutta Municipal Park, at via Mafalda di Savoia 9, in Catania. It is a fixed appointment every second and fourth Sunday of the month, in the morning; in August, it is held only on the fourth Sunday. Admission is free and open to all, in a green and welcoming setting suitable for children as well. A simple and authentic opportunity to discover the flavors of Sicily and support local producers.
The 2026 edition of 'A Fera Bio confirms the usual monthly rhythm at the Madre Teresa di Calcutta Municipal Park in Catania: every second and fourth Sunday of the month, the stalls of small Sicilian agricultural producers offer seasonal fruit and vegetables, organic zero-mile products, traditional crafts, and fair trade proposals.
As per tradition, in August the market is held only on the fourth Sunday. Individual days may include tastings, taste workshops, and activities for families. Precise dates and any special events for 2026 are shared by the organizers on the official channels of the market and the Slow Food Catania association.
